Hello everyone,

Just found out about this site last night from my brother-in-law, Benji. He's also a "fng". Been a menber at LRRS for a while, but am glad to find something more local.
As my screen name suggests, I am a DSM fanatic. I am also a huge hockey fan and love the Colorado Avalanche, so if there happen to be any Red Wings fans on here just shut up! ;) My wife and I met 4 years ago because of our cars, now we have a total of 4 DSMs. Did have 5 but we sold a red 91 GSX to Benji a couple years ago. We have an 11 month old daughter and a boy about to be born so we are more occupied with that lifestyle lately rather than with the cars, but we try like hell!
The 1990 Talon is highly modded and has ran a best of 11.52 but is currently in need of a stronger short block.
The 1995 Talon ESi, a n/t 420A motor, is soon to be boosted and hope to get it into the low 14s on the stock block, but then 13s once I get a built 420A in there.
The 1997 Spyder GST in mostly stock except for rims/tires, Brode upper i/c pipe and 1G bov. It's best time is a 15.2, by my wife, when it was bone stock minus the rims.
I'll get pics soon but have to get to work now. I work crappy hours, 12:30 til 9pm, so I don't have much time for anything during the week.
Hope to meet most of you soon and maybe we'll make it to the car show on the 1st.

The Spyders only came with the short spoiler like the 95-96 turbo cars.

Thanks for the replies. We can only hope to be active with two children!

Anyone ever go to Mokan Dragway? I hope to get up there a few times again this year.

BTW, ironically someone put a Feather Fest flyer under my wiper yesterday at work. It's a blue Talon lowered with 18s. Was that anyone from here?

DAMN! That was me! :2thumbsup:

I always see that ride. I love it! Hope you get a chance to come to the show! BTW, the location has changed for the show. It is now going to be off of HWY 71 in Bella Vista at the 'Lake Bella Vista' park parking lot.

There is more info in the 'Event' Section and we will be passing out revised flyers over the next week.

I can't believe thats YOUR ride. Everytime I've seen it, I flip. You did good work on that. :2thumbsup: :2thumbsup: :2thumbsup:

Thanks! I hope we'll be at the car show, though I doubt I'd enter any of my cars. The 1G Talon is the only one with lots done to it, but it's a 1G and they don't ever get any looks. The Talon you've seen at my work is simply lowered with 18s, exhaust, and short ram intake, that's just not enough for a show car imo. If the turbo kit was on there then, sure, I'd enter it. :D

Sweet! Glad to see another hockey fan around here. They're hard to find down here. I also used to live in Colorado, but I grew up in Iowa. It's sad to see Roy retired but Aebischer is doing an awesome now. If only the rest of the time will actually play in front of him................

Since we have something to do with the show, that 1st gen will get a look or two! BDP is a 1g Talon owner and enthusiast. I prefer them to 2nd gen's. (But I do love 2nd gens too. ;) ) But I've got to say, if I see a nice 1st gen, I'm droolin'! :2thumbsup:

:2thumbsup: Can't wait to see you all there! :nwai:

Welcome to NWAImports!

Glad to see another DSM lover in the house. I personally dont car too much for 2G+ but thats just me. I do have a 93 TSI but it was vandelized last year and it sets in storage. The motor needs a overhaul and the turbo prolly needs a rebuild, but I am looking to get an AWD anywho.

BTW: have you had any problems with your hood flying up at accessive speeds on the 1G? My hood had blown up 3 times on me and the last time it busted out my Sunroof.

NOTE Ricers: That is the REAL reason for hoodpins

J/k

Peace

Um, nope. Damn, how fast were you going?? I'd say that your hood's latches weren't 100%. I don't care too much for top speed action, but I've been to 140+ mph in all my AWD cars at least once to see how they feel and have never had any problems with hoods flying up.

That's funny. I grew up in Perry then around the Des Moines area for a while. Went to Valley HS my first two years then switched to Johnston HS for my junior and senior years. While I was at Johnston I lived and worked in Ankeny for a while at Godfather's Pizza then was an assistant manager at Kornegay's Car Wash/Detail Center. I aslo lived in Omaha for about a year before I met my wife and moved down here.

Toyota, eh? Depends on which one(s). Supras are sweet but too damn expensive, imo. Celicas look good but not enough of an aftermarket support. But if you're into 4x4 then Toyota definately rocks. B)
