Wow news travels fast. I just helped him put the dang thing on the trailer and when i get home there's already a post. Im pushing him to do a 2.3. I got plenty of extra parts, and a ton of knowhow on them and that is definetely the way to go :burnout:

I'll try to post some pics soon. For those of you that really care (:P), its a green 1992 Ranger XLT short bed with the 2.3/5spd - no motor/trans - picked it up for $200. It needs some work, but I can't complain for the price...

Thanks for the help man, and thanks for letting me know it was for sale .

Maybe you remember me saying turbo, and was thinking of Patrick's 2.9... I think you guys already blew the poll, but I'll keep it somewhat of a secret what I'm going to do under the hood :).

After 8 hours of working on the Ranger, we (my friends Cody, Joe (TurboXR) and I) pulled the old motor, tranny, pulled the bed off, and the passenger side seat taken out :).
I plan on putting some leather Cadillac Catera seats in there :). We pulled the bed off because I plan on putting in a rear sway bar, limited slip differential from an Aerostar, and flip the rear shackles for a 2" drop. And as suggested by Patrick, I'll probably replace the fuel pump too while the bed is off.
Any more ideas to what I should put in here?? :) I already know what I'm putting in, I just want to hear what you guys would do, just for the hell of it.

i'd go ahead and get all the drop components and do the flipkit while you are under there, also paint/coat the frame, get the correct axle shims for the 6" drop, etc, do the brakes, your interior is mine, buwahwahwah  (i think i'm gonna paint all the plastic black as well and leave the cloth tan, will have to look at it again)
:otl:

also paint/coat the frame
That was the main idea, but all of the other stuff will be a lot easier with the bed off. Maybe I can keep all of my teeth this time :).
shims for the 6" drop
I've been thinking about that... I think I might be able to do a 5/6 or 4/6 drop and be ok with 17" rims...
One thing I thought of with the interior thing.... I haven't looked at this, and I'm not going to tonight (its raining like crazy outside), my seatbelts are tan... I don't know how hard they are to take out either....

 hope so

-should be good with 17x8s, no wider
-if you do a 3/4 drop i would do i beams up front and aftermarket (not flipped) rear hangers/shackles so you can keep the ranger swaybar and/or traction bars,
-you could even do a 4/4 with splash coils up front
-if you do a 5/6 do beams/coils and then i think you can get hangers/shackles/hangers, or just go the cheaper route and flip/flip but i'm not a big fan of flip kits

Yeah, we used it a couple times when pulling the engine :). I put your pony rims on the back too because one of my tires kept going flat. I'll give them a good washing before I give them back

I knoew we should have kept the van around, then we could have used the 4.0 and a blower. ah oh well...just means a large cubic inch motor...lol...460!!! hahaha

The Ranger weighs 3000 some pounds, but I don't think it would be the best thing to do to put a 460 in there. Donate your 390 to me and I'll think about it :).

Yeah, but no oil pressure after you replaced the pump.... ehhh, lets just say I wouldn't trust putting a blower on it :).
PLEASE TELL STORY!
We were lowering Patricks truck... I was trying to take the bottom shock bolt out (which I didn't even need to....). I had a wrench wedged against the floor so the bolt wouldn't spin, and I was pushing a 1/2" breaker bar on the other side. The wrench broke, bounced off the ground and hit me right in the mouth, taking a huge chunk out of one of my teeth. Its fixed though now :D.

This sounds retarded, but when I was like 11 or 12 my buddy Chris (Chris & Kris, hah) couldn't get his kickstand to go up on his bike, so I kept messing with it and couldn't get it to budge, so finally he had the brilliant idea of me getting on the ground and trying to push it upwards. Something happened and the kickstand had a jagged edge and slit my stomach 6 inches across. It sucked. I still have a litte scar, but not too bad.
 Ah experience scars, eh I8ayellowcrayon? :P

Or so.... Jeez man :P
Kris, don't talk to me about scars... After skateboarding for 5 years, playing sports since kindergarten, working on cars for 5 years, BMXing, and just plain being a cluts.... I have many scars. The sad part is I can pretty much name all of them, except for the ones on my shins.. there's too many of them :).
Ah experience scars, eh I8ayellowcrayon?
Yeah. It'll give us something to tell our grandkids
