Merkur XR4Ti/Ford Sierra

Hey guys, you may know by now that i drive a pretty little Turbo Merkur. you may have seen me (or heard me) running around fayetteville lately.... anyway i just wanted to know you guys' thoughts on the German import and its unearthly Euro cousin, the Ford Sierra Cosworth- one of the least known cars in the US is also one of the winningest racing cars in history. The British Touring Car Championship banned the Sierra Cosworth RS500 because it won something like 85 straight races. and all the championships (correct me if im wrong but im the only person who generally gives a crap around these parts) it also won the World Rally Championship in 86 or 87 not sure. Ive seen RS500s from England running upwards of 600whp running 190 mph ive also seen a good amount of XRs and other cars with the Ford 2.3L Turbo running upwards of 1000hp. For those of you in the know, "Turbo Joe" Morgan has run a 2.3T in his Focus wagon that hits 1k hp and runs dang low ETs all from an engine desinged in the 70's for the Pinto. Anyway, enough of my rant....lemme know if you guys have any opinions on these underestimated Euro imports....id like to know Thanks.

ive got close to 1600 pics mostly Sierras/XRs/Escort cosworths. Ill post a bunch if i can ever figure it out peace. And no, i unfortunately dont have an Escort Cossie- that would be nice but there are only about 20 real ones in the US. There is a guy named Nigel in British Columbia who sells reproduced Escort shells- he owns the tooling (how cool is that) and he sells them for a fraction of a real one. just wondering but about how much horsepower are you making?? i like the way the escorts look.

Ummm... mfg claim is 175hp im probably making around there right now.. maybe a little more..due to the bypassed boost limiter but i dont know, its only a refreshed motor with rings and polished crank, new gaskets etc. it does have a naturally aspirated head for better low end. Btw, thats not my best pic, i just put a new hood with scoop on it so ill try and get some pics up of it. Thanks for the compliments. :thumbup:

yes! that is the car i'm getting all my Merk parts from! :thumbup:

i just wish i could get the EDM 24v DOHC cosworth turbo motor, dingy dang, well over 200hp without the turbo

Joe, if you want, you and Cody can stop by my shop and pick up my rims. But call me first if you are so I can tell my dad that you're coming to pick them up. But once again... No spinning the tires, no drifting, and stay AT LEAST 1.5 feet away from every curb :).
