I'm mostly just putting this here to share stories I come out with everytime I walk into that place.

Yesterday I went in to buy the parts needed for my DIY 5.1 Surround System.

They tried to sell me a RoboSapien. They tried to sell me a 1000W home theater with 7.1 surround for $399.99 on clearance. I asked if had DVD-A or SACD formats. She said, "Umm......no. I know it has two speaker outputs in the back though!" Umm....then how is it 7.1 surround sound? I mean, 5.1 can be done with 2 outputs, that's what I've done (made it last night), but 7.1? and costing $400? I don't think so. The manager proceeded to try to explain the importance of 1kw of "power" to the 2" speakers. I asked, "What's the sensitivity of the speakers? I work in the 1-4 watt range for home theater." "I don't know. 1 Watt won't get you very much sound at all...." (cut him off) "If a speakers sensitivity is 92db, then at 1 watt from 1 meter away it has an spl output of 92 decibles. If that first watt is no good, then why do you keep on feeding it more? If your eating food and you instantly throw up, do you keep feeding yourself that food?" "Umm......" "Do you sell vacuum tube amps?" "No. They haven't been made for decades." "They're still currently made. You guys have a nice day."

I went home and in 20 minutes soldered together my passive 5.1 Surround Sound system. Now I need to get my amp and cps out of storage.

Okay. I get to make a trip back there today to get the parts to make my 4Watt SS amp.

EDIT-They don't have the transistor I need, shit.

I've been to the local one here on Walnut a few times and have asked if they knew what fared capacitor I would need for my circuit or what the resistance equation was as I tend to forget current and voltage and amperage or however it goes (see I forgot again) and they have no idea.

They are quite helpfull if you need assistance on Cell phone accessories or possibly signing up with a plan but not so much on amperage and current when that is the basic principle behind a radioshack in history. You would need to repair your two way or ham in the field. They use to be ran by qualified ham operators and could tell you anything you needed about any type of circuit, now they just send me to bill? in Sprindale? since he is the electronic wizard, who just refers me to google.

And overpriced as hell too. I purchased a 12v 7ahr battery for my carputer tank circuit cause I didnt wanna pay shipping on a heavy battery, it was like $40 and they are online all the time for $20+/- but alas, it was there and I needed it.

Blah, done.
