Last Thursday (April 8) I was on my way to go pick up my brother from the airport and I was headed northbound on N. College and I pull up to a red light at the intersection of College and Township (this is in Fayetteville for those that don't know where I'm talking about). In the lane just next to me was an Acura either TL or CL, wasn't sure which, and looked like a 2002 model. I have a tendency to accelerate quickly when the light turns green at any traffic light and I wasn't trying to race this guy at all. So the light turns green and I get going pretty quick and I see the Acura next to me is driving just as fast. So I'm thinking maybe he wants to go so I gun it and he does too. We were pretty even when we both gunned it and as soon as I shifted into third gear I was gone. I easily gained a good 2-2.5 car lengths ahead of him. For a comparison the only performance mod I have is a CAI (Weapon-R to be specific) and I saw a larger exhaust tip on his and could hear it when we started to go. On top of that I had two other passengers in my car and he had none or at least none that I could see. It was nice to show the power of my car especially it being a sports sedan (2003 Nissan Maxima). I've also beaten a fair share of modded civics and accords and two 2001+ Mustang GT's just to show that I don't only race slow cars.

Ya, it's around 230-240hp and runs mid-low 14s. If you can hit it right (in a manual) you can get upper 13s.

I wasn't really planning on putting graphics on it, I was just screwing around with Photoshop and I needed some more pics to throw up on the website. :D

Yes it is a short ram intake but it's just become a habit for me to say cold air intake. That's what it said on the site I ordered it from even though I knew it was short ram.

Uhhhh, are you sure? I don't want to start anything but the TTZ's have 300 HP and with a good driver only hit high 13's. Maxima with 240 HP and probably weighs roughly 3500 lbs would be a HIGH 14 sec to low 15 second car. I've always heard the new Maximas are about equal with the N/A Z32.

Do you have any timeslips or a link to some facts on the VQ Maximas?

Well they say my PGT is a 15.8 car that has 164hp and weighs around 2,800 pounds.. But uhh, it was only $20K off the lot.

I don't know. That was random.. Doesn't have to do with anything. Sorry,

Just to clarify, it wasn't me.
#1 - I'm sure ANYONE can tell the difference between 02 and 99 CL...
#2 - I'm sure ANYONE can tell the difference between CL and TL...
#3 - You KNOW when I'm racing you because I always end up with a chirp from the tires and I don't play that bullshit take-off-normal-waiting-for-the-other-guy-to-be-stuck-in-a-shitty-rpm-range-and-then-gas-it routine.

I don't know why, but I felt the need to clarify that.

Uuuuuh...carry on.

I didn't get a good look at it from the rear or check back at its front. I'm not exactly the best at id'ing a car from the side. I also never said it was a '99, I said it was probably an '02. And as the title said, it was unintentional. I wasn't trying to race the guy but I ended up doing so. Sorry if this sounds harsh but it sounded like you were accusing me of being an idiot and a pansy for not revving and letting him know I wanted to race.

It all depends on the driver really. I've seen some stock Maxima's that ran a mid-low 14 on the 1/4 mile. Many, however, do run upper 14s and lower 15s.

I agree with the high 14 to 15 second times. That's about what the average N/A Z runs and I've always heard the VQ Maximas are a close race with the N/A Z32.

"My Maxima goes from 0-60 in 7 seconds, quarter mile in 15 (unofficially)."

thats about all the info i could find on it... : ). the vq is a good engine, which is starting to be highly modified in japan. but here in the U.S. parts are very hard to find.

i would guess 14's at best, i would kiss the road if i saw a stock maxima run 13's :). but thats just my $.02

I've only seen the time slip of one guy who did it in like 13.98 with just a CAI and the rear seats removed but that's the only barely modified one. When I said if hit right you could do upper 13s I didn't mean stock. Sorry if it sounded like that.
