I was just wondering what everyone thinks about street racing. And no I'm not talking about drag racing down Walnut dodging grandma and grandpa in their Lincoln. I mean serious races in secluded areas. Point to point to be exact. No traffic, just a test of speed and skill between you and someone else. Not even for money, just a friendly competition or developing skills. Drag racing is typically he who has the best power to weight ratio with the torque to back it up. With a slight bonus for being able to shift. Point to point requires knowing more about your car than where your clutch catches just right so you don't spin the tires. Knowing the limits of you and your car. Knowing that you have the advantage with your quick acceleration, or maybe your top end speed, or that you can pull .95 on a pad where the other guy it lucky to pull .90. Let me know what you think.

I personally have strong beliefs on taking it to the track.....

too much unexpected shit can happen in a street race..

I used to be ok with it, and used to do it all the time, but I was a firm beleiver of doing it somewhere where there are NO cars, and NO people to step in front of you. I've also never raced for money, I think sometimes thats when problems start happening.

Matt's (and Patrick's) wreck freaked me out. It showed me that even when you're being safe about it, shit can, and most likely will happen. As far as organized street racing, I'm done. But I still have a lead foot :).

shit can
hehehee

I have yet to have a tragic accident or anything like that happen. Few close calls, but nothing that actually connected yet. Have there been a lot of accidents due to racing lately? When I say lately I mean in like the last year or so that I've been gone.

i lucked out of this one with just a broken ankle and torn ligaments, had to have 2 screws and 2 acnhors inserted, when you have flashbacks everyday of hitting a tree @ 95mph, you tend to not want to let it happen again

I can see why now. Hopefully you fucked the tree up too. Where did that happen at?

Is there a such thing as "Friendly Competition" anymore? I think it is imperative that you let the other person know FOR SURE that is is Friendly competition.

Just look at Caleb (3rdGenRX7) and (MrBlender) when they raced, and it made such a huge internet forum Penis Size argument.

I dont mean to bring this up to offend anyone, just for illustration purposes only.

Plus with so many racers losing thier life and so many dick cops, its hard to say what will happen when going out anymore. But Everyone has Always done it - and everyone will continue to do it, so if thats your bag - I'm sure you can find others doing it somewhere.

I personally would goto the track before sanctioning off some outskirt side street with scanners and walkie talkies. Last time we did that, we still almost got busted - he was waiting at the end of the track at the turn around spot.

What ever happened to the whole "$1000 to bail out your car, if your caught street racing"?

No shit. That'd be expensive, but better than losing your ride. Do they confiscate them now in AR? In CO you lose it for a while. Or if you have a blue halo like me it's "impersonating an officer". Yeah, how does a steady blue glow look like a flashing wailing cop car? How many cop cars have you seen with neon? The worst though is green. In CO that qualifies as "impersonating a hazmat vehicle" and nets you a big ass fine, plus they take your car for good.

Green = HazMat - hmm guess Juggalo can't move there

They arent too agressive in most areas about Neons and side markers YET. Even Window tint seems to have died down some.

I look at all the little Accords that zoom around here with the green and red colored bulbs in their turn signals and I wonder if they get stopped frequently like everyone use to for that.

I even saw a Cavalier with bright neons underneath driving down Walnut at like 8 pm and I was wondering if they had just moved here and didnt know. I bet they were soon pulled over cause I havent seen it since.

I have my neon, and damn right the switch is right below the dash. Most people in colorado had them hard wired in to the ignition switch. morons. to go black they had to turn the car completely off. I think they pretty much gave up on catching me in Pueblo after the umpteenth time of me going black and hitting the side roads. Mainly i just use them to flash at someone to get their attention or in a parking lot, or sitting still. Rarely(unless I'm feeling daring) do I just drive around with them on. So they're still really anal about the halos then? Gir.

I havent ever heard of any issues with halo's around here, but I dont get out as much as I use to.

Most officers say "If it wasnt factory, you cant have it on there" which blows because a 68 Chevelle or Camaro certainly did not come stock with huge drag slicks and superchargers (and you can clearly see those mods).

So why cant imports have their side markers and neons? Sure its distracting to "older peeps" but your deffinetly not a policia if you have some LEDs and neons. Now turn on the Xenon and that is a different story.

Officers even complain about our fart cans... My opinion, why can Harleys be so load then? I assure you there isnt too many imports that have louder exhausts than a Harley :surp:

Yeah, in Colorado Springs, they like to have harleys that make you go deaf. I actually had to slow down to let a harley pass me because(even with my stereo as loud as liten to it) it actually HURT to be right by his exhaust as he was passing me. Funny how that stuff works huh? If it isn't factory then it goes? How about you tell their fat arsses to remove the beer and donuts from their console then. And with it, oh i don't know, the non factory motorolas, shotgun in the trunk, stuff like that. Cause I know that didn't all come in my friends when he bought one. hehe ^_^
