I found a site with a list of speed traps in Arkansas from people that have noticed it. So, I will a paste some of the local speed traps.

City: Bella Vista*
Location: Highway 94**
Time of Day: Late night**
Level of Enforcement: High*
Type of Enforcement: Radar*
Date: 2/2002*
Right at the #2 fire station there will be a bella vista patol car ready to nab ya! speed limit is 35mph through bella vista , got 2 tickets to show for it.*


City: Bella Vista*
Location: NB US -71/I-540*
Time of Day: Late night*
Level of Enforcement: Moderate*
Type of Enforcement: Radar*
Date: 4/2002*
Northbound on US-71 the freeway speed is 70, then reduces to 55 then 45. Truck Drivers cant slow down fast enough to meet the speed limit.*
Other's Comments - 7/2002 - Benton Co. Deps also sit on E. and W. side of 71. On the Onramp from 340 (an overpass) for the N. lane, you can't see them until you pass the overpass/ramp (the location will be to the right, behind, and *above* you) by then it's too late. Also, in the N. lane about 1.75mi past 340 on a turnoff a car will sometimes be parked. It's just after the last Rt-hand curve, as you come over the hill (about .75mi S. of MO/AR border). If you're speeding alone, you are had. Can't see the car until it's too late, hard to detect the Radar too. Also have been know to park directly across from this in turnouts on the S. lane. They WILL pursue into MO, often not actually turning on their lights until you are in MO and think you're in the clear. The limit drops from 55 to 45 right before the border, they use that as a Revenue-generation excuse. If you are a lone motorcyclist traveling through at night/little traffic they will come up on you from behind at a high-rate of speed (like 85-90) and attempt to induce a chase. Don't fall for it, they're just bored (just pray you're not rear-ended!). Likely, they will accuse you of doing over 70, but let you go with a "warning".

Police ussally well hid within 2 miles from Flintcreek bridge now 20mph has been 35mph for years STRICKTLY ENFORCED ,at all times. 2-3 cops at a time

Location: Hwy 12 at the city limit traveling west to east.*

Coming from west into town on Hwy 12, sets off to left facing east. Speed limit goes from 55 to 35 in less than 250 ft. This city has no tolorance and four brackets of fines, example 5-10, 10-15, 15-20 etc: Fine for 53 in 35 is 182.00. Their slogan is "Two a day makes my pay"**
Other's Comments - 10/2002 - Police Dept. appoved budget for 2002 is 372,300.00. Total revenue recieved
from fines,foreitures & cost,Drug fund, Highway improvement totals for past
12 months is 95075.00 for a town with a population of 2500.

Location: Hwy 65 South of City limits through Valley Springs*

This Strech of highway is patroled very heavy by the State
Troopers who live south of town. Although most of the "good ol boys" can fly down this stip at 70+ MPH, the out of towner, minorites, and "fast looking" cars beware! You will be singled out, and given a hefty fine!! I've watched them pick hispanics, and african americans out of a crowd of people all doing the same speed, and you see who gets the ticket. If you're local, you be fine... if not slow way down, or pay a fine!!*


City:* Johnson
Location: I-540/US71 at/near the Johnson exit, between the last Springdale exit and Fayetteville Business District Exit, North and South lanes.*
Time of Day: Any time of day*
Level of Enforcement: Moderate*
Type of Enforcement: Radar*
Date: 7/2002*
Johnson Police are finally off their suspension prohibiting them from patrolling the Interstate. This was nearly the most infamous speed trap in AR until a court order forced Johnson to seek Revenue elsewhere. They are starting to patrol again, albeit cautiously. I doubt the Siren-Song of Easy Money will be a temptation the Johnson City Fathers can resist for long. Expect patrols to step up between Springdale and Fayetteville on I-540.*

Location: Wilkerson Road across from the Greenery and just north of the 4-lane bridge.**
Time of Day: Any time**
Level of Enforcement: High*
Type of Enforcement: Unknown*
Date: 3/2002*
As you're headed south on Wilkerson Road through Johnson, you will pass a trailer park on your left. Immediately after that you will probably encounter a cop sitting on the left side of the road in a vacant wooded area. You'll see a Greenery on the other side of the road. Trees block your view of the speedtrap until you are directly upon it. Speed limit 35 mph.*

This kinda relates to cops. I got pulled over tonight for failure to stop at a stop sign. I had someone in the car with me and they swore that I stopped but thats beside the point. I was pulled over in Johnson were they rebuilt the road instead of the one lane bridge. He should that they watch that area closely because they had some accidents there recently.

I'd say, take that ticket to court. Most definitely.

Most generally, if you show up at all to the optional court date, they will let you go without having to pay. So, show up, dress nice, be confident, and go for it. ^_^

since when is johnson able to patrol i-540, that sucks!!! you can hit some great speeds there! : ). anywayz if you continue on i-540 past johnson into springdale, you come to a bridge over the interstate w/ no exits, they built a little connector between the roads n/s, and a cop usually sits on it.

also, when going past the Elm Springs road exit on i-540 north towards rogers, the road will start to bend to the right, there is usually a cop sitting there (always on sundays). its right next to pinewood estates, you'll see it on the right.

There was an accident or something today on Dixieland after school so most of the Rogers cops in the area were at that site. Was taking a friend home and she said she needed to get home fast so I got on 13th and was going like almost 70. Knowing that most of the cops weren't around but on the other side on Dixieland, I sped. Was this risky?...hmmm...

Oh yeah and any recommendations on radar detectors and places that sell 'em? I'm oblivious to any type of detector on the market probably -_-

Detectors still use VG-1 and VG-2 cloaking? Can they catch that now??? Seems like i can drive 120 MPH anywhere and not get caught even possibly passing or going by a cop, but when i have a whistler with VG-2 installed, i get pulled over ALWAYS :unsure: Whats up with that???

I dont have a rador detector and speed everywhere I go. I have never once been pulled over for speeding. I guess this is because I slow down around turns on the interstate and somewhat know where cops like to sit.

watch out for Centerton. They will nail you for what your ride looks like then figure up a reason to kep you on the side of the road for at least 45 minutes while their ignorant asses figure away to get more money out of you.

I am not sure if others beleive this but I feel the #1 reason I get pulled over is because I drive a neon green slammed mini with the ass saggin' everywhere I go. Now I will admit that I have deserve it at times, but 90% of the time I know it is due to the fact that I drive a custom ride that their broke ignorant asses can't touch. I am sure to make a point to point out that they are not to lean on or anything else. Wich does garuntee a ticket, wich is usually some non point affecting b.s. ticket that is paid and forgotten. I'd say centerton has the smartest cops. They're cars are midnight blue without many reflective logos on them. That makes them insanely lethal at night. As you're heading into centerton from bentonville, they sit off to the right side behind the grass(which just so happens to not get mowed very often) which doesn't block radar, but it sure as hell blocks LOS. Never see them till you're about to pass the bastards.

A friend and I a couple years ago helped to get rid of two or three officers on Kelley's force in Centerton. We had evidence of their corruption and we even wrote a letter to Chief Kelley about their Sexually harassment and illegal activities.

Hahaha, one of the officers -Brian I think, he said he always use to pull over the hot little sports cars just because it was typically a female and he could manipulate them to do ANYTHING to get out of a ticket.

The Officers openly spoke about Drugs they were using and where they got them, drinking alcohol on the job, and monies they recieved from illegal activities.
I dont like Centerton and dont go through there anymore. I feel bad enough for James (2quick4you) since he lives down there. :unsure:

Little flock will pull you over for anything! If your tag illumination isnt visible for upto 50 ft or you have a large crack in the windsheild, or even a light out. I dont goto Little flock anymore :wacko:

Thnx for the post! I've been pulled over twice already, and have only been driving a little over 2 years. Talked my way out of both, sense my dad is an X Cop. I got pulled over in johnson on that street right before you turn left onto the road that takes you down to the mall (coming from the highway, forgot the name of it.) and I got pulled over into the Wal-Mart los prevetion parking lot, guess the cop was down aways, since he said he was tailin me for a little bit. Hehe had my music up and not paying attention goin around 15 over in a 45 (Metal makes me speed).

I've been pilled over five times, but only one ticket, and that was for roasting my tires, though i did get pulled over for doing 85 in a 65 and just got a warning, but thats another story that i dont like to talk about, but ive been really lucky so far(knock on wood). Deffinatly watch it on the U. of A. though, those guys are jerks. I know lots of ways to mess with cops when they pull you over, so thats always good, and remeber, if you are near a vehicle that is larger than you, they cant give you a ticket for speeding because radars pick up the largest oblect, hehehe, there are actualy documented cases of trees doing 65!!!! Just say it must have combined our speeds or something, or ask the officer what the radar picks up, and he will admit that it picks up the largest object. :clap:

today -> buddies were going north 112 from fayville to tontitown not speeding totally legal, had a car behind them even, did the whole converse and point thing .. well they got proly 1-3 miles ahead car behind turns and next thing the cop (fayville city,real young) comes up behind real fast, flicks on the blues when right behind em.gave no reason for the stop at all ... questioned the driver, got papers, walked around to pass window questioned pass ... asked if he was a wanted for murder, questioned his b-day many times for some reason.Cop took the plate,wrote a ticket, then left ... unfortunately tags did not match up to the car .. so ticket is ligit, reason for the pull is fucked up and the harassment is fucked too .. i guess cop harassed em even more but i didn't catch the whole story ... thought i'd shed a little light ... copx sux! <_<

Watch out on 13th in Rogers right in front of the park its really dark and no street lights at all and they sit up there a lot so yeah be careful with that one. I have gotten 2 tickets one for no d/l and another for following to closely and it was an undercover cop in an Intrepid got 16 hrs of community service, defensive driving course, and a 150 fine sux but oh well anywayz thought I'd let u guys know about 13th they are really bad here.

Cave Springs is a speed trap too! Anytime really and bad late at night. When going into the town from 1-12 when the speed limit drops do it. They will be there waiting on you. Anyways just wanted to let you know.

I drive down there all the time since i live on 17th off of Price and its true to an extent. I always see a cop going down dixieland untill they reach the station, but then after that it is very seldom to see one, sometimes there will be on at the church across the new HS but thats like once in a blue moon. Also on dixieland, its not smart to drive fast down that road, for once that the police station is right down the road, but also, a lot of cops drive down there heading to work in their personal cars and if they see you speeding, im sure they will call you in, in other words, dont speed period :laugh:

Sometimes cops are on my road (Wagon Wheel Road.) I've only gotten pulled over 1 time though for doing a 50 in a 30...They need ot raise the speed limit! it should at least be 40 MPH which everyone on the road goes! No one does 30 MPH! :laugh:

Especially me, In which I some times do 40, 50, 60, or even 70.

But I've lived on that road for 6 years now and 7 years by that road...i know hwere all the cops are...hehe ;)

Aircraft use a spotter in the sky who radios a ground unit that pulls the vehicle over about a mile after he's been clocked for a half-mile.

The ground patrol then verifies with the air patrol that he pulled over the correct vehicle.

There's not much error, except in the speed ticketed for, which they round down to account for human error. They're rarely off by more than 5mph (if that), though.

At least, that's how parts of California do it.

I hope I'm not paying for fuel so an chopper can ticket everyone else, let them pay for the fuel.... make a public address and say "new aircraft running radar (or whatever the case), if you are caught speeding, you will be fined $2000 for pilot time, fuel and equipment fees for aircraft use - thank you for your attention and be safe!"

I have onboard navtrack which alerts 3 agencies, and by some freak occurance I happen to hit 80 - well the emails and phone calls start rollin, followed by pep talks and speeches, then perhaps some classes and courses.
2 violations in a year with either speed or idiots calling that "1800 hows my driving" shit and I am removed from a vehicle. Now thats crap when you actually think of it cause everytime I see those I am tempted to call and make up a story - and I'm not even as bad as half the people out there.
Fortunetly they crossreference my gps information with the calls to verify the caller is truthful.

Haha even when I get off the road and drive the exploder, I find myself wanting to set cruise on a 30mph road, people pass me all the time and I just laugh cause even though the limits are stupid and different vehicles/drivers can handle different roads at different speeds safely, those signs can mean life or death and i've done the speed limit for the last year cause I am a corporate loser... Haha nah people tell me I've grown up/getting older and all that but its cause I'm now conditioned to do that.

Actually its pretty funny if anyone on here has driven through several states locally, the interstate is a totally different quiet place, everyone is usually respectful and will give you lots of room, even truckers are polite and signal you over... its until the speed limit his 65 there in fayetteville all the way until you hit missouri line, thats where all the idiot freaks are. I get so relaxed driving from KC to Littlerock until I reach bville/rogers/spring/fay then im all tense. Now granted other states are huge nightmares, I'm just referring to how wierd it is driving through NWA with idiots who have never even seen 6 or 7 lanes all going one way, people here should learn to drive for sure! - IMHO

I consider myself a good driver in personal vehicles. Everything changes when you get behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle. I would never take a chance in my rig, too much to lose. Different story when I'm in my street car though:D

i know this thread is ancient but i just recently got a ticket so i figured id tell you guys where. this place might have been already mentioned. i was coming back from eureka springs and coming through sonora goin accross that long bridge the speed limit is posted 70, so i had my cruise set right on 70. apparantly theres a sign right after the bridge that says 55 that i didnt see cause it was dark. i got stoped at the top of the next hill for 70 in a 55. i was soooo pissed cause the speed limit is 70 for like a full 5 miles before that. i went back the next day to see if there was actaully a sign and there was. just a heads up.

6th ST in Fayetteville is getting bad. Right where it transitions from Huntsville Rd to 6th, there is a little hill where the speed limit changes from 45 to 25 on the other side. This is if you are heading west on HWY16/6th ST. Be sure you are doing 25 when you pass the sign, or you will get pulled. THere has been a cop there for the past two weeks, everytime I drive by, which is often since I live down the street from there.

F***er made me sit there for half an hour and ended up just telling me to go about my business. He didn't even "warn" me. UAPD cops are pricks.

on any road between collage and Gregg i was going up sycamore and being tailed by a cop at the top of the hill was a dude dressed as a civilian holding a radar gun on the side of the road. when we got to collage another cop had some dude pulled over in the quiznos parking lot.

thats no joke about johnson. me and a buddy of mine were cruisin down north gregg and as we passed joyce i got pulled over for doin 10 over. i guess that wasn't enough for him because he called in some backup and searched my car for drugs. he asked me if i had any pot atleast 9 times.

Got pulled over on 412 headed back into Siloam by a state trooper. He said I was doing fourteen over and gave me a ticket. Was also a real prick about it.

BUT : 1. I had my cruise control SET at 66. 2. There was a green truck speeding up behind me and following me much too closely. (The cop had to turn his lights on to get the truck to slow down so he could get between the truck and I to pull me over.) 3. He said he "clocked" me doing 79 from the opposing lane of traffic.

There's no way I was going that fast. I was going up a hill for god's sake! x.x
Hoping I can get out of paying it.

ELM SPRINGS.

Right as you come into there from Rogers there's a little gas station with a shop just before it. You come around the curve and the speed limit drops to 25. There is ALWAYS a cop sitting at that little shop. You won't see him until he's got his lights on and is pulling you over in the gas station parking lot. Got pulled over once there and talked my way out of it. The cops there aren't really pricks, but that's probably because they write 30+ tickets a day just from that one trap. Letting a few go now and then probably doesn't bother them.

the absolute 2 worst places to speed is in Cave Springs and Elm Springs.So if traveling 112 make sure you do the exact in these 2 towns. They dont play.

I've driven for 7 years now, and lived in Fayetteville for 9 months.
I've been pulled over once in Baton Rouge in 7 years of driving, and Ive been pulled over up here 5 times since I've moved. Rediculous.

At least 4 of them were warnings...

To relate to Mat, I got pulled over ONCE in my life living elsewhere for talking on my phone as i was pulling out of my driveway of all things in CT, since moving here I got THREE tickets in TWO days and now I'm afraid to drive like I always have because there's always 90 cops on backroads where no one drives anyway

i almost got four tickets for doing 30 in that stretch of 6th street that's 25 but i made myself bawl uncontrolably and it freaked the cop out so he let me off with a warning

It does seem like there are more patrolmen out and about lately. Corner of garland and sycamore has been bad lately. Cops are hiding on the sidestreet or in the church parking lot and nailing people turning east onto sycamore. Several cars pulled there yesterday afternoon.

My fusible links were fackin with my alternator one night, so I was revving in nuetral to charge my battery. I went up the hill and since my car was cold it was emitting a rich mix out the pipe. I got pulled over, they told me to shut the car off, and I did. They said they wanted to give me a ticket but couldn't because they didn't have enough evidence. When I asked them to jump me [my battery was dead] they said they couldnt do it. Luckily I was within walking distance to Chris and Dan's.
