Feb. 4 is a test-n-tune day at Hallett. Anyone wanna go? I know that my buddy (98 hatch with b16 swap) and I are going, but we are trying to round up some more people to go too. It will definately be fun, and its much safer than driving fast on 112 from Landers to Tontitown...
If anyone is interested, check out Hallettracing.com, and hopefully you can make it!

I think still have to get the membership/lisence even for the test and tune, which is another $35. And don't forget you'll need a helmet and a long sleeved shirt. I want to go, but I don't think it would be worth it with my few mods right now :).

plan on replacing your pads and rotors when you get done with it.

i know, this will be my excuse to the wife to buy aftermarket brakes/rotors
In that case, i'll just wait, til I get my cross drilled sotted rotors, and Performance break pads, Bremo, if they make them for my car. =)

Come on guys, don't get scared away from it. It will be a great time, and you can drive your car to its limits, and not have to worry about cops, other drivers, deer or any other thing that you have to worry about on the street. Also, at Hallett, if you slide off the track, there are no walls to run into for quite a ways out. So, its not nearly as risky as it may seem.
Check this link out, it tells you everything you need to know.

Im going to be running a fresh set of Hawk brake pads before I go. I think i'll be fine.

good idea tim, but if you do a lot of hard braking + several laps, you'll def. notice a lot of brake fade. just make sure you don't push it too hard on the street for a bit afterwards to make sure everything is alright.
Doesn't look like I'll have the money for new break pads for this for right now, I'll let you know when the time get closer. It depends on how much $$ I'll have after catback.
haha wonder how a stock v6 stang would do :-P

Depends how sticky your tires are, and if your suspension is good on cornering.

mustangs + cornering = bad. thats how many a cobra/mach/GTs have been lost forever.

if several of you guys are seriously interested, i will go back again on March 4. as that is the next test day. that will give you all some more time to get everything set up.
let me know if you really want to hit up that day in march, and i will make some arrangements.

05 GTs are completely different, they handle a lot better than the last gen. different suspension and a handful of other components actually make them one of the best handling cars for the price/power ratio.

I wouldn't get too excited if I were you. Hallett is a small track compared to most racetracks, but it is considered a level 5 technical. At almost 2 miles, this is not an easy course. Dont go lightly into this track if you have never been there. Large cars if not tuned right can lead to unsuccessful results. You must understand that new people are the ones who wash out the most because they don't prepare themselves and their cars. Not to mention the financial burden. The RSX-s I had did fine, but larger engined cars must beware not to get too cocky. Ive been there. Trust me. Dont put your full confidence in your driving skills, it could blow up in your face. Be careful and drive safely. I reccommend the class they offer in the morning.

been there, raced hard, blew a radiator. WILL GO AGAIN AND BLOW SOMETHING ELSE UP. I mean if ur gonna race, do it smart. But racing is about limits and pushing them, so if your scared of them, you will never exploit them.

Until a point is presented to you where it cannot be exploited anymore. That's why there is a tyre wall.

I'd go but I'd be last in everything, and if anything happened to the car it would drain the money I'm saving up for a B16, once the motor is in, some time this summer, i'm all for it, sorry.

I won't be able to make it. I'm doing my catback, header, and CF hood before I do brakes. These brakes I have on now are brand new. Might as well make money that day, too. So I won't be there to watch.

You can drive in HST with a completely bone-stock car, just don't push your car to the limits. You shouldn't be anyway if you're a novice. If you're really hard on the brakes then they will fade, but as long as you take it easy, you'll be fine. That being said, a decent set of street/race pads swapped on before the event will allow you to lessen the chance of faded/mushy feeling brakes when you get back to the street with stock pads.
It doesn't matter if you have a well prepared track car or an auto Mustang rental you picked up from Thrifty for the day, you'll still have fun.
HST is not racing, it's just for having fun in your street car and it's worth every penny for the admission. My only warning is that it's like crack, one hit is all it takes to be hooked. You'll also have a sudden lack of desire for going to the drag strip ;)

Theres a reason why admission to a drag strip is cheaper.... because its not half as fun as a road course, period.

Agreed. It's better to get your car out on the track, and see what your car can really do than Wait in line for 20 mins., then race for 8-18 seconds...in my case it'd be 17.2@80MPH. Haha. This is my Opinion, but I'm Tibby, and my Opinion doesn't count.
