Yesturday when I was leaving home from work, i got in my car and the stereo started acting all wack. The flip down screen only come down 1/3, turns off, goes back up, and repeats the process over and over and over again. I tried resetting the stereo, still did the same thing... I tried disconnecting the battery, still the same thing. I took off the face plate and made sure it wasnt on there loose, still the same thing. Does anyone know why this could be doing it? Motor problems? The only way I get it to work is to keep the face plate closed, Im still under warranty under Best Buy for another 2 years but if you guys remember my last "Amp Noise" thread, it took 1 month to get my amp back, and I dont want to be stereoless for a month, cuz that will make me loose my mind! But let me know if you have any ideas on what I can do to fix it, if any...

Here is the stereo that I got,

Its a Pioneer DEH-p8500mp,

So do you think it has to do with the ribbon cable from the face plate?

It could possibly be shorting the eject? button or something somehow when its dropping and hitting it again while raising? I dont know that stereo's functions

I really have no clue other than it is most likely something to do with the faceplate area.

If its a ribbon issue or flex cable problem, get your parts here --> http://www.pacparts.com/electronics/model....FTOKEN=54804903 (http://www.pacparts.com/electronics/model.cfm?mfg=PIONEER&model_id=DEHP8500MP&back=0&action=list_part&CFID=351530&CFTOKEN=54804903)

Dont let some place charge you $100 or more just to fix the cable/ribbon.

edit:
I didnt notice it was under warranty. Disregard the above info and take it back :P

If you need a loaner, I got a few - not sure if I want to install them but perhaps one or two will fit the aftermarket harness already installed.

I know I have an older pioneer but all mine are single din style.
