This isnt a kill just dont know where to post it. When I get my car back I was wondering if anyone knows a car that is on my level. Im not trying to say Im badass or anything just want to have a good race. I should be around 300HP at the wheels when I get it back if all goes to plan.

before engine failer
Kills:
arrons 300z
3000gt
carls old capris cop car

Loses:
arrons 300z
Sams S2000 (bad driving and car problems on my part) should have beat him I think)

If you're serious, I can point you to a whole bunch of cars from this area that'll beat you.

3rdgenRX7
Nov-7th-03, 3:59 pm
Yea Im serious I want a good race after I get my new engine broken in. It wont be till probobly Jan. but I was just thinking about it today. I know there are plenty of domestics that can beat me. I will race them but would rather race an import.

Nov-7th-03, 4:11 pm
Well I know a couple 600+ hp Supras, a 500+ hp RX7, 500+ hp IS300, another RX7 that's almost ready to run, but I dunno what kind of work it has, etc... Then of course there's always the DSM's. Who knew Arkansas had such cool cars?

edit: Polk new RX7 should be ready sometime in the spring.

3rdgenRX7
Nov-7th-03, 4:21 pm
Are these cars in springdale, rogers, fayetville? I have seen cars like you listed at tracks but never on the streets around here. The cars you listed are they street driven cars. From what I've read from rx7club.com most people with over 400Hp dont really drive there cars except at the track. I know I will lose vs the cars you listed but ill do it for the fun of it. Do you know of any cars that are on more of the same level as me? Thats what i really want not ass raping by a 600HP Supra.
Something that has more to do with the driver. No $$ races.

Derek C. from Bentonville just finished his rebuild. He has a 300ZX that he just conversioned over to a TT.

I'm not sure how much hp exactly he has, but he's pretty confident. Not boastful, but rather he knows his limits.

So, if you're looking for a local race, I might be able to ask him whats up.

ljasonl
Nov-7th-03, 4:28 pm
I don't think any of those are from NWA. There's all levels below that, I just listed the quickest imports I could think of. And yeah they're all daily driven, except the RX7 Polk is building. Street's RX7, the 500+ hp one, went 9.3 at Centerville with no extra weight removed and on the same tires it runs on every day. That's just crazy.

My friends just bought a '93 RX7 with no engine, and they just finished putting the engine in it, it's almost ready. In fact his new FMIC issitting in the corner of myroom. He'd probably be a pretty good race for you, he'll have less power but... other ways... to make up for it.

If you just look around on the various AR forums, you'll find the type of races you're looking for. They're almost all on some forum or another..

Ill race him but it wont be for a while. Im not trying to be boastful just want to find a good race locally. All the people I know dont have anything that matches mine so, Im trying to meet new people and compare cars that way.

Are you a locale in the NWA Import scene? Or, are you just getting into things? Either way, a good race would put your foot in the door for more races and meeting new people.

Derek was on our previous board as Overboost300ZX, but because of his work schedule he hasn't been on the 'net much and hasn't re-signed up. But, I'll definitely contact him and see whats up.

It'll be a good race, most definitely.

Its not black it montego blue but it looks different colors in diff. lights. Yea if i talked to you it was about a year ago before the car was "mine". I dont really remeber every1 I meet the couple of time i went up there. I was ignorant back then also.

yea we raced three time in Mo-Kan. The first run I dont count, the second I won, and the third i lost. During the third run I missed 3rd.

Im double posting too much sry Im not meaning too.

Instead of a new post im just going to edit this one.

Well, you could try me. Even with my bad clutch, I've pulled better times than the few 300zx's I've seen at Centerville. I've never seen an RX7 run there other than the big power ones.

3rdgenRX7
Nov-8th-03, 1:57 am
I dont know what i would run in the 1/8 of a mile but with everything i plan on doing I think I should be in the high 12s in the 1/4 mile. Dont quote me on this its what I was told by the guy building my engine. I wont know untill I get it all completed and timed. Yea like I said with your friends RX7 if Im every in your area or at centerville ect I will defentatly let you know.

92PreludeSi, do you really think you can keep up? I dont know you or your car i dont think, but most hondas wont be able to. Im not trying to bad mouth you and just ignorant about you car. Once i get everything done if you think you can I will race. Its just for the fun of it anyway untill you get caught if your doing it on the street.

ljasonl
Nov-8th-03, 7:53 am
Yeah, I know you'll kill me in the 1/4 or on top end, but my car owns on short tracks. AWD + short gearing = a monster below 60 mph. I beat a poorly driven Viper through the 1/8 th once, and I was running equal times to Sam's turbo S2000 at Sallisaw. In all honesty you'll probably beat me, but I think I can hold my own. And I won't be N/A for much longer either :P

3rdgenRX7
Nov-8th-03, 10:40 am
Yea my car isnt as good on the 1/8 mile. I should have beaten Sam I think. I had a bad clutch and some engine problems. The first time I spun my tires till untill almost 3rd and my clutch was slipping. Excuses EXcuses but its true. He beat me and I guess thats all that matters. The great thing about my car is I dont have any turbo lag but the lack of toque hurts me. Next year I plan on going to all the import events in the area and trying my luck in the tournaments.

Thats how you get experience... Don't worry. Just make it known that it is one of your first times to race, and that you're a new driver. That way, they will know you're not trying to act badass. And if you do have an awesome kill, it will be that much more impressive, because you're so young & inexperienced.

But don't worry, you will do fine. B)

Why do you say that? Im ignorant as to what every1 on this forum has. Im pretty confident in my car but I know my limits if I know what Im up against. I know there is now way im going to beat the big power supras, rx7s ect. that ive seen at Mo-Kan, but I have never seen a big power prelude, civic ect. in NWA.

I havent seen to many cars around here anyway cause Im pretty busy most of the time and dont have time to just cruise around.

It's interesting that you should say this.
I was talking with Marlon this weekend and he pointed out that just about all neon underbody kits were outlawed in the state of Alabama, according to a guy FROM Alabama that works with us.
It occured to me, then, that Arkansas is also one of the only states that has "no" emissions testing, making it, therefore, not COMPLETELY illegal for some exhaust configurations that are nowhere NEAR legal anywhere else. It then occured to me that this is one of THE best places to be a racer, simply because, although it is catching on fast and the legislation is learning more and more, we have the widest boundaries involved in modifying street cars.
I know this is somewhat off the subject, but I suggest that all the streetracers in the entire country, foreign and domestic (so to speak), move to Montana. The population is low and spread out there, so I think we can all fit. The roads are almost all level, straight, and ALREADY have some virtually non-existant speed limits. If we could take over the state, we could even rename it. WHat do you guys think???

 Sounds like a heist.

Actually, BDP & Lazarus & I were talking about this as well. It is one of the few states that is very lenient on shit like that. It's actually very suprising. I guess since the trees outnumber people here, they can make up for all of the pollutants in the air from our cars. :P

I'm not sure if this is true or not, because I don't think I have gotten a definite answer from him, but I think Aaron got rid of the ZX. I know he got himself a Toyota Pickup, but I haven't found out for sure if he sold the ZX, or is looking to sell it.

I'm don't think Aaron is as much into the modding thing as the rest of us.
He's kind of fickle, too, apparent in the fact that he's had more cars since I've known him than I've owned all together (or atleast close to it).

"Gumby" - my friend who just bought one

Chuck - from Little Rock with a silver FD with non-popup headlights and fender flares

John - Polk built RX7, 9.3 Centerville on street tires, full street weight, and a slipping clutch (stock looking!)

There's one from Oklahoma that comes down here sometimes. Black with a front mount. I forgot the guy's name but I helped him take his bumper off in Ft Smith one night.

Polk, AKA www.polkperformance.com, has one he's building for next race seaon

That's all the FD's I can think of off the top of my head.

edit: Oklahoma RX7's name is Scottie

I've seen the yellow one around, but I don't know anything about it. B)

Yea LR and Ft smith is a long trip but I would make it if alot of people where meeting up and I had money. Im not sure but I think the yellow RX7 belongs to some kid that just turned 16. I know nothing about him thats y i was asking. I heard that he got the car when he was 15 and got to drive it with a hardship.

There's a yellow one in Little Rock with a 3 rotor too.

I would love to see the 3rotor. If I had the $30,000+ to spend it would defenatly be for that. Is it an FD or the older year model? I plan to go down to LR with my car sometime but it hasnt happened yet.

I'm don't think Aaron is as much into the modding thing as the rest of us.

I couldn't have been further than the truth (before anyone catches this).

I heard from Marlon and Lindsey, on Friday, about what Aaron did with the ZX.
Last night, I saw for myself. The body kit looks good and the wheel config. is slick as hell.
He also put some in the HP upgrades, but I'll say no more about that.

Once we get pics on here, you'll see what I mean.

Let me help you out with some more fast rotaries in AR. These are NOT trailer queens. Chucks is a bit of a garage queen though. It's one of the best looking FD's I have seen.

Chuck Duncan - Silver Widebody, Single Turbo GT35/40 (336whp on stock twins before single)
John Street - Silver, T66 Q trim Single, 9.1 @ 118 (1000ft track) on street tires, 11.7 @ 129 at Memphis motorsport park on street tires.

Here are some more random fast cars from AR.

Thomas - Black 97 Supra, 609whp no spray, T78 Single
Brian - Silver 94 Supra, 604 whp SP63 single
Bill Bushee - 03 Cobra, 539whp/609tq pulley upgrade and small shot of happy gas
Tim - 98 Z28 525whp/615tq, 150 shot
Chris The Dick - 01 SS 8.88 @ 116 1000ft

Then, there is the hand full of 11 sec (1/4) DSM's, there are 4 in Ft. Smith, Josh's 10sec daily driven 2.0 sleeved B18C1 hatch, and the 2.0 sleeved CRX we are building.

Oh, I'm new so I guess this is my intro post.

Pretty much, but most of them will travel. The supras, both 7's and F body's are from the LR area. The 2.0L CRX (not finished though) is from FS as well as ll the DSM's mentioned. There are faster DSM's in the LR area as well. There is a nice widebody single turbo (T78) supra just finishing up with paint here in FS and Pauls Porsche 996 twin turbo AWD is pretty nasty as well.

Hopefully, I can get my car finished and back up and running by the end of this month and get back up to fayetteville to meet some of you guys. It's always good meeting more car people. Plus, I miss living in fayettenam and hopefully will be moving back there in 05.

there is a white TT rx7 for sale in rogers in the showroom of this dinky little used car dealer. It has tan leather and it is absolutely perfect. 30 or 40 thousand miles with a manual transmission along with a sunroof. Anyways, you would never really suspect such a "cheap" looking used car dealer to have a jewell like that in its' showroom.

They want over $20k for it, but it has been in there showroom for a while now.

No matter who you race, 3rdGen, you might want to watch for the fruitcakes in Lightnings and 350Z's...
If they win, they think they know everything and bitch at you when you EXPLAIN (as opposed to make excuses) where the problem went.
They pretend like anyone that backs you up makes no sense, even though we say it as plain as day (I guess that shows their mentality...or lack thereof).
And, God forbid they should pull off a race for any reason, they'll NEVER admit that you were about to stomp them, even when you were clearly walking upside 'em BEFORE they broke off.
Anyway, just know that some of THOSE people are not even worth the gas and you should be fine. ;)

Of course, it isn't hard to tell that the warning is not necessarily directed towards ALL 350Z and Lightning drivers...just the couple beeeatches out there who know who they are.

We raced from a roll a couple times and once from a stop. He could hang with me real good from a roll till i hit 3rd and 4th. From a stop i thought he would be able to beat me off the line, we both have bad tires but him being rear wheel drive i figured he would have the upper hand. He spun real bad, not quite like dumping the clutch but close. My car is way too much for my setup at the moment to but i can pedal it fairly good. From my understanding he raced Aaron in the 300 Z Twin turbo and they were pretty much equal. Aaron ran a 14.3 at either 99 or 100 at Mokan. My last time at Mokan i ran a 13.4 at 106 and i've done a few minor mods since then. I do beleive Caleb could gain a few tenths with a better launch and of course with drag radials maybe even mid to upper 13's. I was talking to 3 guys at Mokan at the last fun drag and they had RX-7's. They said they just added fuel management and gained almost a full second so he's definately got some potential for a minimal amount of money without having to spray.

I raced my car some this weekend and I was a lil suprised at the power. I didnt have as much as I was expecting. I raced some pretty modified cars and didnt expect to loose as much ground as I did. Im thinking low 13s in the quarter instead of 12s.

I think I am having problems somewhere that is causing this. I havent installed the boost gauge yet, so I could have a boost leak. Since the only bolt on I have is a DP, is it possible that the purple box is running rich and causing the car to loose some power? How do I tell if the cat is clogged?

What would you suggest for me to do to try and gain some more HP out of my setup?

Caleb

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My buddy with just a dp ran a 13.2 @104. You have the potenyial to have a high 11 second car. You need an intake and a catback. You can taKe the cat off and look inside to see if it's backed up. Get a boost gauge and see if your getting a correct boost pattern.
I eaw this, notice his mods:
Stock sequential twins, PFS Ported Motor, PFS intake, PFS medium intercooler, DP, & hi-flow CAT, PFS Cat-back, PFS Purple Computer, HKS Twin Power, Lightweight flywheel, Best speed 11.80 @ 118.54, Best Time, 11.6@116.

The only thing he would have extra is the flywheel, and hi-flow cat. Once I get my intake. This is a quote from the guy that ported my motor in responce to my PM.

Ive done some research in the past couple of days and here is what ive come up with:

When I did the vacume hoses there are 2 hoses that have restrictor pills in them. If I replaced them by mistake my boost would be at 7psi. stock is 10psi.

Ive also noticed my turbo, DP area glowing red. I was told is should not be doing this. Two possibilties ive come up with. Cat is clogged and/or running too rich. Im leaning to the Cat.

Im ordering a boost gauge tommorow and will know if im having vacume leaks and if my engine is pulling the right amount of vacume at idle.

chris knows his shit. listen to him. he had a bad ass third gen and has been working on rotaries for a long time. i suggest you get a good exhaust system, its teh easiest way to free up hp on a rotary and since we do not have emissions testing you dont have to worry about that.

start practicing your launches on empty roads. until you get use to it. the 7 has a somewhat shitty lowend (because of the lack of torque) but its got an impressive top end..i think 3rd gear is the money gear..ill post some numbers of what im looking for in a few days.

3rdgenRX7

I really want to see what a bridge port sounds like, and the performace it has to offer. I am listening to Chris, he has really helped me out with my bugs.

I would do what he suggests right away but money issues wont allow that. He has also suggested getting a mid-pipe, but i dont have the $ to spare right now. Im also pretty sure I would need to upgrade fuel pump and maybe injectors if I get the pip.

Im going to wait till i get new tires to start praticing launching. My tread is about gone.

btw i saw that thread where the shit was being thrown. race him from a roll next time. youll get him. v8s have something called torque, 7s really dont. so awd cars and v8's will get a rotary powered car off of the line but from a roll youd better hold on.
