So who knows about these vehicles and their audio components? Mach system? Bose system? Premium system?
I personally have a 2000 Eddie Bauer and have no idea what is up in there, I do know from research that I have a built-in Factory Amp that needs wires on the stock harness "grounded to chassis and others shorted with a relay" in order to operate the amp. Other people have suggested using the CD-Changer cable as an audio source for after market heads.
I know there is a adapter/converter cable for after market heads which will plug straight to the speakers but it bypasses the amp (which is only a baby 8" or so)
Its time for my carputer, head unit in the glove and factory amp hacking. If anyone knows anything about these ford sound systems from possibly 96 and up (im sure they changed them in 2003 or 4 to something worse) Please let me know.
I just spent about 4 hours installing a remote start system on this damn thing which I will prolly remove later and just do away with PATs security for an upgraded aftermarket system. I hate ford remote FOBs. Anywho, I really dont feel like spending 2 or 3 days down time (working only after work on it) trying to figure out the amp and such.
Who had done an install on an explorer or mountaineer, even a Ranger doesnt matter to me just give me info please.
Aslo, anyone know off hand where I can locate parts for the exploder? I need the drivers side piller cover in tan.
