THE 2004 SUBARU WRX STi

I'm sure most of you could give a shit less, but it beat out the Porsche GT3 (mostly due to pricetag), Nissan 350Z roadster (maybe they should have brought in the coupe, instead), the RX-8 (thank God!!) and the BMW 5-series (not even in the same league).

What made me sick was that the RX8 was 2nd...it beat the Z??? I think the Z coupe is WAAAAAY better then the RX8. And the Porsche GT3? Only the price bogged it's popularity down.
What was cool was that the Subaru only trailed by 7/10 of a second in the 1/4 mi. to the Porsche (it beat the rest) and it is $60,000 less!!!!
Hell, HALF THAT would be enough to modify it and push it plenty past the GT3, and then you'd have another $30,000 to go out, or bet on races, or whatever.
Anyway, just thought I'd post this stuff.

You know, I would've guessed correctly had I guessed at all. There has been so much hype over the last year about the WRX, it's just uncanny. It's a good car, I give it props. :)

#1 - It depends on what you are looking for because they said it was harder to drift the EVO...of course if you want MAXIMUM HANDLING or GRIP, well, there you go.
#2 - They also said the interior design of the WRX was superior in that it was warmer, more user-friendly.
But, in my book, they are neck and neck. I'd GLADLY take either, although, given the choice, I'd have to jump in the STi ... I think it looks just that much better. If only Mitsu. had kept up with the EVO's big, round foglight design on the front, I might me more inclined to lean that way.

not surprised that the rx8 got second. i like them better than the Z. other than hp i would think the rx8 beat the z in every category. The Rx8 runs very very rich and once you lean it out it can produce quite a bit of HP though.

yea they had to detune the rx8 a lot to pass emisions. I think the rx8 is better then the Z also

If your gonna go nsx why not go skyline??? lol Jason...I agree with you about takin either if they were givin to me...as for the sti thing... :..: Id jump in the evo in a heart beat...it could also be that Im picky about cars and seem to only love toyota's and mitsu's...right under them is the Honda...but about the rx8 and the Z... :puke: I think they are both over rated...but then again..it could be that I just dont like mazda or nissan...

Big Porsche fan right here. I know the price tag is outrageous, but thats what makes it a Porsche; its like a lifetime acheivement to own a Porsche unless you inherit your daddy's multi-million dollar company. I personally don't think the GT3 is the best Porsche ever, but I like it a lot. I have a video of a GT3 drifting on my comp :D.

I'm also a big Nissan fan, but I do think the Z is WAAAAY over-rated, and also the RX8, but not quite as bad as the Z. The STi is an amazing car, and I would LOVE to own one; I'm glad it won :thumbup:. The comment about the EVO not being able to drift as well as the STi, that just depends on your style of driving. If you're a diehard rally racer, you'll usually want your car to be able to drift when the need arises. If its just on the street, you would usually want the overall best handling without your tires melting off.

Does anyone remember that turbo Civic waxing that NSX at MoKan?? I think that was the only race the NSX ran... :lol:

do you mean the r33 and r32? because the r34 just sucks balls. I hate it. I would rather have a Toyota Supra. 33 and 32 are the best skylines IMO.

I like the NSX because its honda. Not because of how expensive it is.

Id take a STI over an EVO any day, for one the STI can take MUCH more power and can be modded easier. The EVO runs about 18 PSI stock, and besides the basic bolt ons you cant really do much with out doing internal work on an EVO. On the other hand the STI's stock boost level is about 13.5-14.0 PSI and can be turned up to 16.5 PSI Safely.

Whoa! Not a very commonly shared opinion among Z fans. The Z31 (84-89 300ZX) tends to bring the least popularity out of any other Z. I'm a HUGE fan of all 300ZX's ESPECIALLY the Z32 (90-96) as the styling is timeless, when they came out, were supercars and not even the corvette could best the Z in performance. I'd rather take an Evo over any STI. Ive seen Evo's pushing over 600 ponies without playing interals. Plus i dont think you seen an Evo run 12.65 to an 12.75 STI stock in Japan, dats on my video too..... :thumbup:





P.S. R34 is the way to go... "Just wait," you say R32 and 33 are the fastest for right now, but i'll give it a another yr until the R34 start breaking its own records.

from all the reviews ive read one reason people didnt like the z as much from most of the reviewers was the interior wasnt as clean/rich looking... they said it looked cheap and felt it too.... where as the 8 used better materials so it felt richer... that and I think the 8 gets better gas milage...

ahh just wait for the mazdaspeed rx7(yes the 7) to come out and hell will break loose again

Not hard to believe the 8 beat the 350Z as far as interrior. Several of the Z32 owners who sold their cars for 350Zs said their Z32's had nicer interriors.

Oh, 7 all the way baby. My favorite Mazda by far.

its been awhile since i heard about it so im not sure but I think I heard that it is coming... it uses the same body as the 8 except the frame is shorter and the backseat/door is not there so its just the 2 sear roadster. besides that its the same body.... ahh turbo charged rotary... hmmm

I agree. They should take the FD and refine it a little more but keep the same styling cues in mind. They should also use lights similar to the Spirit's.

26B costs about 100k for the engine i think. Ill find the info later on the actualy cost from Mazda. You cant buy it from them though cause they only to sell it to people they work with often.
