I was in Bentonville crossing into Rogers on 71B and as i got to about Mcdonalds i seen a white Ford Lightning. Looked new but im not familiar enough with them to say the year of it. It had SVT on the back and Lightning on the side. This guy had a K&N filter sticker and i beleive a flowmaster sticker on his back glass, i was to busy trying to get his attention. He got on it several times, sounded so mean i was beginning to wonder if i should even try but thats disceiving sometimes and anyways i wanted to see it run. Traffic was a pain and i couldnt get him to slow down to get some space so we could hit it but finally by the hospital crossing 13th we got a light. We both spun pretty bad but i creeped ahead in first and at the end of second, (about 45-50) i was about 3 cars in front of him, i shifted to 3rd and was hoping to really put some distance on him as this is where my boost really starts to come on but im gonna say that was the end of it as his lane had a car and couldnt stay on it much longer. Wasnt as tough as i thought, but dam it sounded strong.

Good kill. Stock lightnings aren't much but sounds like he may have had a couple bolt-ons. Maybe you should line up with Mr. Blender. I think he has the pulley on his which does wonders for the lightning. What do you run in the 1/4?

< Not a big fan of trucks.

But, I'll give respect where it is due. The Lightning and the SRT-10 are both monsters. :o

380 HP is pretty nice. But also keep in mind they weigh in at nearly 5000 lbs. and from a roll it's NOT the Lightnings forte.

Actually, not THAT fast. This lightly modded LS1 whipped it. This is at C'ville.

The dude with Car & Driver said there is too much power for the SRT-10. He was quoted as saying, "If you're going to have this much power, wouldn't you just buy a car?"

It's apparently too much power for one to handle. Maybe the SRT-10 driver in the photo from C'Ville just didn't know how to drive it?

man when i went for a ride for him i wasnt expecting the torque and he floored it and my damn neck hurt.

They can't get the power down to the gound. The lightnings were whipping up on them.

This was part of the reason the LS1 beat him.

The Srt 10's are suppose to run 13.6 and the lightning's 13.8. I did see a Lightning run at Mokan with just a few mods run a 13.79 at 98. He must have got an awsome takeoff or it just died out on top end cause when i was running that i had a 2.2 60ft and it was at 103. Heres where they posted a pic, scrol down the page a bit. http://www.mokandragway.com/cgi-bin/iB301/...ct=ST;f=11;t=14 (http://www.mokandragway.com/cgi-bin/iB301/ikonboard.cgi?s=405fd8426f1affff;act=ST;f=11;t=14)

why buy a SRT10... when you can get a lightning for 10 grand less, and spend 200 bucks on a new pully... and blow past the 10 anyway

plus the L handles infinitely better than that hugeass srt... (for a truck of course)

Well some of the reasons I would pick the SRT-10 over the Lightning would be...

1. I'd have a hard time saying I own a Ford. Nothing against them, just not my cup of tea.
2. The SRT-10 is more rare.
3. Can we say Curb Appeal?
4. Reliabilty. Dodge isn't known for it on their trannies but Good Lord the Lightning isn't going to last long with high boost just like the 03 Cobra.
5. SRT-10 has more potential power if money isn't an issue. Bolt-ons are available and you can always turbo/SC it.
6. Who picks a freakin truck for handling? They can be modded to improve handling but unless you just hate cars, why?
7. Oh and that "cheaper" Lightning also won't come with a warranty like the SRT-10 would.

why not get a lightning??? one reason from my dad..."its a ford"

on another note...its its gonna run that slow he will prolly just keep the hemi...i dont really think he wants the fast part of the truck anyways.....thats why he got the off road hemi...he just wanted it because it has the same motor as his old cuda did...before he wrecked it....some old people are so stupid...never knew how much their cars would be worth now....

Funny thing is that's my friends L. I almost bought it from him but had to back out.

That was the first time at the track for him in the L, so times are really not where they could be.

Only mod to that L which ran the 13.7 is a K&N. He's running around Bentonville and Rogers again (currently with a broken front grill).

He also drives a supercharged white 1989 Saleen.

Yep, that's probably him since he also has a 1G Lightning. Was it black with a Lightning sticker on the windshield?
