Wat do u have?

I would imagine the first two things should be
Exhaust
Air Intake

Those are the 2 basic things everyone should have. start with exhaust, cuz most stock setups are really restriktive and need alot of attention. then move onto air intake. a nice ram air or cold air intake would be g00d. but i think ram air is better cuz ur getting cold air from outside but with the cai ur getting hot air from the engine. but itz all depending on what type of setup.

so either get exhaust or air intake 4 startas, either 1 first is a good idea.

good luck. :shiftingfun:

Well I already have cold air intake and I'm planning the ram air as wellas the splitting of single into dual exaust so what would be next... by the way thanks for the imput

OK I have a 98 pontiac grand prix 3.1 se 4 door with cold air intake and spider 16" rims B) I plan on doing the ram air system so as well as dual exaust..what would you say is next

personally I would do Ram Air first and then go to the exhaust. However with that type of engine I wouldn't make it a TRUE dual exhaust because with that small of an engine its not going to make all that big of a difference. I would get hedders, y-pipe, hiflo cat, and a performance muffler that will have single inlet/dual outlet (ie: flowmaster). Reason being is that you can a) find all those parts cheaper than a true dual exhaust system and B) the actual gains will be pretty close to the same if not greater with the single exhaust as compared to the dual exhaust. I have a 3.4 camaro and I had a friend do a true dual by Borla and I didn't (did what mentioned above ^) and I can't say he is any faster than I am. We have pretty much the same mods and i am a little faster (.10 ish) than he is. Thats how I compared it.

You should check out www.n-body.net (http://www.n-body.net) . Tons of info for GM N-bodies, I haven't been on there in ages. Anyways, only go 3" if you're running single exhaust. Dual 3"... eehhh, maybe for twin turbs lol. Thats what you can do! ;) I have a 3.4 Alero, and I can't think of anything to do either. I've seen a couple 3.1s that have been supercharged, pretty damn quick too. I can't remember if you even said, but a 5 spd would be great. The Alero sucks balls as an auto. I used to have a whole list of pages with mods for 3.1, .8, and .4's but I can't seem to find it. I'll let you know if I find it.

:surp: Sorry I hav'nt posted in a while...but on the other hand I do eventually intend on going twin turbos if I can get a sponser or can find them cheap..let me know if you know were to get them to either rebuild or they're just cheap! :victory:

why twin and not single?

V6 FWD, and hardly any space to put a single turbo in without cutting floorboard/firewall. Single turbo would be a lot more efficient and overall better, but this is a dual manifold engine sitting sideways and it would take a lot of work and plumbing to mount just one.

I think two T3 turbos would work nicely on that engine. I wouldn't do sequential just because it would be more reliable in the long run to use turbos with equal stress on the engine and the turbos themselves.

Another possiblity is a supercharger. That would be so much easier for that car. There was a supercharged 3.8 (I think it was a 3.8) GA at MoKan. The sound of that thing whinning gave me chills <3 .

 so do you know were I can find t3 turbos/ I have already found a super charger for 4700...but we need to get down a little.. <_<

Ebay is your friend :). A friend of mine may sell me his T3 that is off of a Merkur, but that is a rare car anyways. I really don't know any other cars that T3s are from, but they're out there. I've seen tons of them on ebay for cheap, sometimes T3/T4 setups. I would stay with just two T3s for a 3.1... t3/t4 would spool at rather low rpm, but with 2 t3/t4s, you would have an insane amount of boost once they are maxed. It would just be more economic to keep it 2 t3s for a street car that isn't fully built.

Are you going to use an intercooler? I know this is still in the thinking process, but it would almost have to be a top-mount.

hmm 3" piping? :o If you were pushing 450-500 hp maybe but 2.5" piping is plenty especially if your going to get true-duals. Then Air Intake and dont get a metal one the plastic type ones are good because metal will get hot and you wont gain any power. If its a GTP def. get a smaller blower pulley. Maybe some cams could be a thought. Suspension work is always needed when making more power; gotta get that power to the ground somehow. Also beef up the tranny a little with a tranny cooler and shift kit.

Thats what I would do.

Are you just stuck on turbos or is there another reason you wanna go with em?

You should really just chat with James 2quick4u, cause he had a hella fast Park Avenue. It was prolly the 3.8 right? But yea, im sure he knows pointers for you to consider.

Just my opinion JDC!!!

Have a Good Party

BDP, do you know anyone that has a twin turbo GA? Just the cool factor of saying you have a TT Grand Am. But there are some cheaper ways to get the power, and 2quick could help you out a lot. Just some machine work and a 75 shot will make a pretty quick car.

I have no turbos right now, and my friend only has one T3 that he is willing to sell. He has another that will need a full rebuild. http://search.ebay.com/ws/search/SaleSearc...+turbo&from=R10 (http://search.ebay.com/ws/search/SaleSearch?sosortorder=2&basicsearch=&ht=1&sosortproperty=3&satitle=T3+turbo&from=R10) Here is a link to a search on ebay for T3 turbo.

Well I went ahead and got the performance tuner module for my car and it should be here on tuesday and should allow me to adjust my gear ratio and add about 25hp to my speed.....but it does not release my govener so if anyone knows someone that works for gm let me know I will pay to get it done! ::wootburnout:

Maybe disconnect your speedometer cable :). Just kidding. I don't even know if that would work or not.
