Somebody challenged me last night to race their black Mustang GT, I don't know what kind of mods it had besides the flowmastaz (woo woooo!) N E WAY, he said he was on a team called Urban Performance (what's urban about Rogers? lol). Long story short, i pulled on him like a mofo and he was pretty pissed (he don't even know) when we got back I just got out of my car and did this :break: got 2 be embarrasing for him 4cyl pwned 8cyl :2thumbsup:

thats what i was thinking.. stock they're pretty weak. except i don't think the new models are extremely impressive either. the gt's anyway...

the new stock gt runs to 60 mph in 5.3 secs and the 1/4 mile in low 14s high 13s for 25 grand how many cars can you name that can do that stock for that price?

I just am not a fan of fords although the reborn shelby gt500 is gonna be the baddest thing since the 429 cobra jet the real deal......

No offense, but prolly because you have a vette.

Aug-10th-05, 7:16 am
vette's run mid/low 13s stock, right? So a stock Mustang GT that's pretty close to the same times (assuming high 13's like special ed says up there) is slow? I don't get it....... :strange:

Special Ed, if low 14's high 13's is not fast, let's see one of your time slips. Can you get under 15?

SpecialED
Aug-10th-05, 9:06 am
I would say anything under 14 secs is fast --- in the quarter and for the price with a little modifications they would be in the 13s for sure. I just am not a ford fan but the new mustang is a great deal ---

A bone stock 99-04 Mustang should run high 13's. I've seen many do that! The new stangs (05+) should run low-mid 13's, bone stock. Many have done that as well!

According to Car and Driver December 2004 issue - they were the first to test drive the new for 05 mustang GT -- yellow 5spd gt model
Accelration Seconds
0-30 mph 1.9
40 mph 2.9
50 mph 4.0
60 mph 5.2
70 mph 6.8
80 mph 8.7
90 mph 10.6
100 mph 13.2
110 mph 16.5
120 mph 20.1
130 mph 26.1

Street Start, 5-60 mph 5.9
Standing 1/4 mile 13.8 sec @ 102 mph
Top speed (governor limited) 149 mph

that is not bad for a bone stock car --- the 99-04 mustang Gt STOCK are as much as a full second or two slower than that --- mustangs are the most popular american tuning muscle car -- I see soooo many running around and they respond very easy to mods-- I bet those 99-04 gts you saw running those times are not stock ... the lightnings and cobras which have the same engine in them are faster since they have superchargers/////

And Corvettes run ~13.3's stock right? Not much difference stock for stock, eh vette-chick?

EDIT - C5's, to be exact.

triple, you can..... in my car :P

but i think it's irrelevant. what your car has the ability to do, and what you consider to be good performance don't go hand in hand i don't think. unless of course you THINK your car is something special

specialedition is a 1995 4th generation prelude with a h23a stock 160whp engine and a sand leather interior -- the only colors I have seen have been champaign and forest green metallic (like my car) ..me and some honda tech guys tried to figure out how many 95 Se Ludes were imported we came up with less than 5000. The Vin numbers depict a SE accord chasis and not a lude quess they had so many low numbers that they used the Se accord chasis number instead of the lude.
Factor in that I have a h22a jdm engine swap, and that makes for a rare SE Vtec lude which I have only met one other person that has something similar to it and he is on superhonda and lives on the east coast... I think low production numbers and the fact that you do not see that many preludes around especially one like mine make for a rare ride.. It can suck a lot of times parts are hard to find and I have to use ebay a lot.
I am confident that my car will run under 15s 1/4 mile even with the 17s it rolls on now........

yea, if you have an H22 in ANY prelude, you better be running 15's stock, no if, ands, or buts

Folks... in a 1/4 mile, an ET difference of 1 second in the 13-14 second range is a pretty big gap between those cars at the finish line. It may look like nothing on paper but in reality, that's a BIG difference.

PS. The new Mustangs are kinda cool but no match for the Corvette's stock vs. stock. I'm a Ford guy but reality is what reality is.

Yes-- but you are comparing a 25 grand mustang Gt to a vette
lets compare the new 45 grand shelby gt500 to a vette and who do you think will win?
Looks like there is going to be a new king of the hill this fall and ford will be back on top ... at least for a little while....

Don Juan
Aug-10th-05, 11:28 am
thats true, lets just wait for the GT500 and compare that to the C6

Jet-Lee
Aug-10th-05, 11:33 am
isn't the C6 only 20-40hp stronger than the C5? and only slightly more aerodynamic?

yes for a convertible which is heavier and more costly than the base gt model. I was talkin about a 25-28 grand base gt model which right now they are giving good price breaks on the gts just not the convertibles....

the c6 is a 400 hp ls2. the c5 z06 was a 405 hp car. a c5 is a ls1 350 hp. a stock c6 can almost keep up with a c5 z06. id imagine if a 05 GT actually had bigger tires itd help with 0-60 and q/m times (if im not mistaken, they only have 245's or 255's on them, not a big tire at all for 300 horsepower) the 06 gt500 ran a 12.xx on 255's, the actual car itself will come with 285s for a lot more grip. price to power, the mustang takes it, the aftermarket for them is perfect.
