no, I think all that Mazda had a part in was the chassis which is the same as the MX6....I could be wrong.

you are....most everything on the probe is mazda

all the drivetrain is identical to the MX6, the suspension may be as well

my Mercury Capri was designed in Italy, built in Austrailia yet the entire platform was Japanese, but it had Mercury emblems on it

Everything on the Ford Probe is Mazda...I did some research on the Probe. The whole design is Mazda it was developed by Mazda. The MX-6 has the same engine everything. So does the Mazda 626, Mazda 3, Mazda 6 I believe it may be different in some ways. My engine says Ford on it but, I can get a cam cover for it that says Mazda. The engine is the same.

There is nothing wrong with a Probe. B/C in all actuality it is a Import with the badge of a True AMERICAN.....

Even the 1994 model Ford Mustang. The tranny is the same as a Mazda Trans.

Yeah, I was talking to a guy from the Parts Store and he said he got a tranny from a Mazda and put it in his he said that the bolt pattern is the same and everything. But, I could be mistaken. It wouldn't surprise me if the Ford took some of Mazdas and added them to there own cars. You know since Ford bought Mazda when was it back in the 80's I believe. Don't take my word for it I will have to do some research on that subject.

And the T5 is not a Mazda tranny...dunno what that parts dude was thinkin

I don't drive an import. I feel left out. The only vibe I hear from importers is nails in a tin can! OOOOOOOOOH! LOL J/K!

I heart most imports, just not the ones with auto zone mufflers.

Isn't a Mustang RWD and Probes are FWD?

..Okay, you may be a fellow Prober but get your facts straight. :)
The Probe was actually designed by a japanese female that worked for Ford, not Mazda..
The Mazda MX-6 and 626 are the only Mazda cars that the Probe shares the platform, engine, trans with..
The Ford Probe has a Ford shell and interior. It holds a Mazda transmission and engine and Mitsubishi fuel components and electrical system.
The Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 do not have the same motor, AT ALL.
The Probe automatic tranny is the 4EAT and CD4E transmission, which is NOT the same as the Mustang transmission.
G type --> N/A
H type --> turbo
Auto 4 spd --> G4A-EL aka EC-AT aka 4EAT
