93 civic vs 05 rx8

last night i saw a buddy of mine at dennys on 6th street he's back from iraq and just bought a new rx8, we talked cars for a while and then decided to race. :shiftingfun: so of course at 2 in the morning we went to the track to do this the legal way,lol. we raced several times on 6th st, i mean at mokan and several times on 71, oops, i mean at centerville and i waxed him every time. does anyone know how fast those things run stock? i thought at first he was f-ing with me but after five or six runs i think he was for real.

they only LOOK fast. im not sure of the actual stats, but im sure it isnt WAY fast.........plus, he could just not know how to drive correctly. i mean, try a different driver, or switch driver and car then try. thats my opinion...

was it an auto or a manual??? cuz there is a BIG power difference between the both, i test drove one, i wasnt that impressed, im not suprised that a civic beat it, great race at Mokan :))

Performance
The rear-wheel drive 2004 Mazda RX-8 puts its unique engine to good use. It can be mated to either 4-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift feature, or 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.3-liter rotary engine produces 207 horsepower and 164 lb-ft of torque with automatic transmission, 247 horsepower and 159 lb-ft of torque with manual transmission.

Theres the horsepower diffirence. so depending on the transmission, may give you the answer.

Look at the 0-60 and 1/4 in those. They are not VERY fast. They are decently quick, but they are fun to drive.

the 8's are made for cornering. They have great handling abilities.

the only reason why the "renesis" motor and or the rx8 as a package deal seems to be fast is because it looks good...and it sounds fast since you can take that biotch to 10k and not even wince...try that with another car..."logically stock"

It doesn't even seem fast when you are driving it. I have red-lined an RX-8 through first and second gear...If anything it makes it seem slower.

Like in my car, it feels like a freakin' slow piece of shit because the gears are long.

well i think that rx-8 are very good as a daily drive 2 drive around town. the rx-8 has style like body style and the way it looks and run. o' ya was it a auto or stick if it a stick it is very fast on top end gears. B) :yes: ^_^
