i need a mechanic that knows how to time these 2.0 liter 4 bangers mine has sat long enough i need her road worthy asap...hook a ninja up ya'll
Still nothing from the other mechanic? Sorry I havent got back over to check the timing and all, but I'm sure something is 180 out!
It is kinda strange that it was running just fine, you parked it, now after replacing sensors - it backfires through the intake when cranking.
Will it start in its current condition? If so, does it sound terrible? I was too affraid to let it start when I was there, terrible things could happen, then I could use a photo for my signature :D
bet ya money its the exhaust cam that is 180 out!!! Since that cam gear was loose and all, if it lost grip with the key on the cam, it coulda turned.
I dunno how that cam is setup tho with the keys and all, but they should have things to prevent that on your motor. But I think the cam Pos Sensor is on the Exhaust cam so it would be telling the PCM to fire ICM at the totally wrong time, and the crank pos sensor is sending flags to the ECM because of the malfunction from the PCM set by the mis-fire detect.
Best thing I could recommend you to do to check the timing, is to remove #1 Plug and find TDC then check the timing marks on the cam.
To find Top Dead Center (which means the piston is in the very top stroke possition [closest to spark plug]) I would recommend using some hose or something since your plugs are deap. I've used many types of hose and jammed it into the plug wire hole with the spark plug missing. Then wedge something into the hose or even use your finger, when the pressure builds up it will blow something off and you'll know.
That is the easiest way I can think of with only one person. Some people use REALLY LONG screw drivers but THAT CAN/WILL DAMAGE PISTONS!
The Timing marks will be facing each other on the cam, they are small notches and if you look close, you might notice a 180 mark on the opposite side as well.
I dunno, I guess I really need to come back over sometime huh? I think next monday and tuesday I could be free after you get off or possibly sunday. PM me if you can think of anything.
Feel free to post your comments about my ideas, I dont claim to be a automotive GOD :D

it was a pin that held the cam gear to the cam...it sheared...got it replaced and timed shes runnin fine... i just need a new blinker switch...insurance and tags and she'll be on the road tearin shyt up again
:shiftingfun:
Was it that "back" cam? I figured it had something to do with 180 out, but i guess it turned out to not move at all and in turn was forcing all the compression out the exhaust when it opened!?!
Well, glad its fixed, did they charge an arm and a leg?
