Get a shift stabalizer from Energy Suspension, and I think B&M makes a kit too. Its about $10. As far as shifters go, I used to have a Spectre on mine, and it worked great.

Yeah... I used the prothane shift stabilizer bushings...
they made it feel a lot better, however be careful when you put it
in that you do not overtighten the little ball-cup bracket that holds
it up in place... also do not use the lithium grease on the ball part
of the shifter <_< trust me... it just doesn't work well (don't ask)

I used what ever kind of shift lever i8ayellowcrayon traded me for
those brake pads... it works great (except that it hits my exhaust
piping in reverse and 5th... but not really a big deal)

You probably just need new bushings if your stock shifter is "sloppy".

I just kinda figured it only did that on mine because my exhaust is ghetto... It was a pain getting it into 5th in my car. That shifter is a Spectre or something like that. I traded those brake pads for something else cause they wouldn't fit on my car either :).
