New Skins

I know that we are going to be gettting a new skin for the forum. And I was wondering if there is anyway we can help with the process. Im sure that most of the members belong to another forum(s) and its different from this one. I dont know if I like all the "white" but it def is a change.

this is one of the better skins out of the skins we have or had.

I do agree perhaps we should vote since we tend to piss off members when there is a change. I think we've went through (this will be 5) skins now? There is always a couple peeps who dont like the change but the skins do get old after a while and its too hard to keep up mods to many skins if we allow users to change to whatever they want.

I think we should pick a couple, get them up and running and screen shot them so the members can see what is to come and vote on which they like best (in the future skin changes).

BDP, someone is always going to hate a skin. Some people just gotta suck it up. Triepy played with chat colors yesterday, it was freaky at first, but then turned out alright after a few minutes.

How come we don't have options? You can have more than one skin and we can choose.

If I were an admin in charge of skins, I'd say one skin for the reason of simplicity and management. You only have to update one skin for changes. Easier to manage just one instead of 3-4, esp. if your trying tohold down a job and home as well. Just my $.02, though.

cause its too hard to keep up mods on every skin. Thank you Jet, that is exactly the response I was trying to use :P

If only a few of you knew what it was like to work a full day either 8 hours or 13-17 then come home and have to edit a modification on every skin (which are always different code) and then deal with errors trying to locate a problem when the error doesnt point you anywhere.

that is a function in the skin_global.php file saying the shoutbox is at the top of the page.
After a while working on one skin, you tend to know exactly where things are and how to fix them but new skins are more difficult and have 50 - 100 new files on each install.

Not that I'm bitching, its just rather time consuming to deal with more than one skin especially if I decide to mod something like making the shoutbox 25+ posts required (just an example), I just gotta play around til it works then I would have to do the same on another skin.

But perhaps in the future, it will be an option for you guys to choose the new skin or the old one, but things like the chat and various popup windows would be different colors as they wwould also be modded for the new skin.

I still need to change the smilie mood window, as you can see from both these popups - the mood window looks a little different as it was modded strictly for the old skin...

I liked it at first but now im having my second thoughts, if we can change the members mug shots with members rides, i think it will better. But overall I like the new set-up, I like who we can see who is reading a specific post, i like that the bullets will light up when there is a new reply, if we can change the header, it will be better

I agree. I have no major problems with the site besides the fact that the banner looks like it belongs to a gay boy band site. If it flashed member's rides, that'd be cool. :thumbup:

And to furthur explain the thought, perhaps a picture of the members ride and the member's board name. That way maybe some people will be able to notice other member's rides easier.
