Besides the engine :headshake: , what do you think of this car? Not so much with the hoodscoops and the rims, but I think it looks really good.

Not bad, alot of work put into it, props to them.

hmmm, put the stock sideskirts back on, paint the calipers ANYTHING but yellow, and put a oem cf hood on it. I won't comment on that shit under the hood. And there really isn't much work in that car unless you consider putting christmas hose loom everywhere alot of work.

Well, I like it! I think it looks good. Keep up the good work!

Although I probably wouldn't have chosen the same modifications or done them in the same style as whomever owns this Talon, I still give it credit. It's ignorant to say that there isn't any or "much" work put into the car. Break it down.

Here's a stock Talon.

Vs. the one pictured

Just from the mods that I can see, there was some work put into the car. The installation and removal of the hood/carbon fiber hood, the wheels, I see a strut towerbar, looks like polished valve cover, header, bodywork, custom paint, installation and removal of rims/stock rims, calipers had to be removed to be painted (unless taped off), looks like there is exhaust work, random appearance significants, we can't even really tell if there is any internal motorwork, but thats a big 'if'. So, its not like this is a European Rally car tested and tuned for the highest grade of racing. This looks like someone's street-driven, daily-driver.

Doesn't look like I'm the only one that thinks the car is decent, look at all those trophies.

Why not give them some sort of props? And as if there wasn't work put into making the money to afford these mods? Does that not count? ..Well, I guess its not the same as sitting on your ass in front of the computer, now is it?

What you posted was a 95-96 n/a talon. Now go find a picture of a 97-98 talon tsi (the one pam posted) and you will change your mood. And yes there are some subtle differences in the body between the turbo and n/a.

Also, by looking at the engine, I can tell many things.
1. His mods there include, a bov, an intake, and probably a catback. That is the stock manifold.
2. His preference isn't speed.

I never downed the car. Its just the things I pointed out seemed extremely tacky to me. I mean yellow calipers on an otherwise totally black car????? Also, IMO the stock sideskirts look better.

I actually love the way the wheels look and the stance of that car.

Also, where do you see custom paint? That is black.....black is not custom.

Custom paint; reffering to what looks like paint on the sideskirt, the white.. Wasn't like 1g or anything, but the fact that they tried to create some sort of style gets props from me..

Great! It's good for people to have their own preference.

I've got a video called "R Generation" and in it they interviewed two track-type racers and two show-car guys and both sets agreed that the car show modifiers vs. the track/drag modifiers are two different breeds.. It seems that the track/drag modifiers have the biggest, loudest, most obnoxious voice because they try to make everyone feel like show car modifiers aren't worth the time, like it doesn't count as modifying because the car doesn't run 13's or something. They are two different things, they both deserve props of the same regard. Don't down one just because it is the opposing view of your own perception.. because your perception will be your undoing.

But yeah, I like the stance too! :w00t:

A car moves. Its mechanical. It has a function. Like in archetechure, form should always, always follow function. That's why so called show cars are shit and the most beautiful cars on the planet are also the fastest.

Yep, I am an engineering student for a reason. I will always believe form follows function and no one will ever be able to convince me otherwise :P

the way it looks under the hood reminds me of juggalos car. its fucking hideous. (not a fan of the kit, hood, etc etc, but im all go, no show, assuming i had something other than the scort to mod)

Here Here! Form should be function!

Most people that want to go fast don't care so much about modifying the looks of their car for show, only function. That's not to say that they don't want their car to look good, only that it is secondary. And yes, most believe that modifying a car for something other than speed is an utter waste of time and money. That's the mindset.

Also, the two are definately different breeds. Show cars are objective. Some people like one color better than another, etc. Sure, you can rate them on certain qualities......But nothing like you can when racing...fast is fast...their is a winner and a loser. There is no judge, no middle man. It's vs. someone else. Track/drag modifiers are competitive, no doubt. If they weren't, they wouldn't constantly be trying to make their cars faster.

It looks like this is true. It looks like the people who are into performance aren't afraid to say it. Nobody else has really had anything to say. :P
