I don't get it. Maybe some people are gay. But why do I always get this phrase, "Mustangs are a chicks car," I mean c'mon a lot of the v6 stangs yeah but I dont drive a v6. Does my Mustang look girly? no, to me and all the people that i've talked to said it looks mean as fock. It's all messed up, civic driver says that and I'm like and yours isnt? Jeez, Makes me want to burn em up right now and race some fart canned ricers!!!!! I need a new license plate that makes fun of those fools! :angry:

I don't say anything about them being girl cars. I think of Camaro and Mustangs both being guy cars. Reason I rag on mustangs is more or less on the V6's ... there REAL slow. My 94 3.4 and a friend of mines 98 3.8 stock for stock came out like me 3 cars on top. The GT's are nice I admit. If i were to call a mustang a girl car it would be because the V6's are slow enough for girls. That is all...



*EDIT* ok, since we have some girls on this board I will say the typical girl rather than girls in general. I know you girls here like it fast and hard ^_^ so i give you girls props...

its not that i hate mustangs, it is that i prefer TAs and Camaros over mustang. the majority of the mustang owners i know (except for robert and a select few others) are very very very cocky when it comes to their car and how fast it goes. and yes some TA/Camaro guys do the same thing. (and i don't like them either) and another thing is, if it is under a 302, i don't really like to call it a v8. v8s are supposed to be big ass big blocks that are over 350 C.I. maybe it is the fact that ever since the downfall of the 5.0 mustang (the 80s style, not the newer ones) have become a lot more "femine friendly". sexy lines, great styling, etc... make the mustang a more "womanly" choice than a TA/Camaro (to a lot of girls, the new mustangs look better than a TA/Camaro.)

I dont think people are hatin on you. I think it is more of a general statement mostly refering to the V6 models.

Brandon you should just get a 89 hatch back 5.0 5 speed. Put your tires on it and what ever money you have left over shove into the engine and see what you can do :thumbup: I do like your car tho. It's a quick lil stang but i'll be up with you soon :D

actually Bowen, what robert said is a good idea. quite frankly if you are all about hauling balls (which i am) i would def. do what robert said. the 5.0s have a lot more potenial, lower insurance (older car = less insurance) and the word "five-0" brings fear into the majority of the TA/Camaro owners. you could get like like 18k for the GT, buy a 5.0 (that price is a for an amazing 5.0 btw) for 3k, and the rest goes into motor, suspension, brakes, etc.... hell if you did that, you would be one of the fastest cars around here and by far the one of the fastest mustangs.

That would just be a pain in the but plus the 4.6 have a lot more reliability. I'll be in the 12's anyways I just dont see why my car is so "girly"

why is the 4.6 more reliable?? i am pretty sure that when you get to major mods (supercharger, cams, pistons, etc...) the 5.0 would be a lot better motor. the 5.0 is a very tough and rugged motor. the prefered choice for the short block ford owners and the prefered rodding of anything for a mustang to a truck. how is the 5.0 more reliable if so many people use it over the 4.6??

well look at all the NY cabs and police cars that have nearly the same engine and all of them can get over 200k miles on em where as a 5.0 I dont really see them over 130k.

i agree with bowens on this one. i LOVE the look of the newer mustangs. (especially the new retro-stang thing) i turn my head away when i see an old five-o. i do not like them at all. or at least... not as much as i should. the reason i dont like the 5.0s is b/c THEY LOOK LIKE SHIT. i know they have huge motors, and i prefer perf. over looks, but not THAT crappy lookin.

yes, i do see a million mustangs on the streets, but i have seen a few that might give my ls6 a run for its money. i am not pointing fingers at anybody here, but no one should downsize any car unless they have done their homework... one of those girls behind their NOS steering wheel cover and thir fuzzy dice could be pakin a supercharged v8 under their hood. so be careful what you say.
i dont know a lot about mustangs, but i know enough to stay away from them.

hahah i didnt like the fox bodys for a long time but then i grew to like them and i didnt like the sn 95's much before i got one because i thought they were girly lol. But then i grew up did my homework and learned a few things. I guess it like some peopel, you might not like them at first but they grow on you.
why is the 4.6 more reliable??
It really depeneds on how you look at it a stock/lightly modded 4.6 will get better gas millage which is the entire reason the 5.0 and 5.8 were no long produced, but the 5.0's have less moving parts which mean less stuff to break.

I agree with Verge and Caleb. It's mostly the V6's that it's aimed at and the fact that there is a bajillion mustangs (GT's and V6's) on the roads. The new Cobras are fast, better looking, and SC'ed. But they are still a mustang. I wouldn't mind them as much but so many mustang owners are the worst about their attitudes. I have complete respect for them as being fast because the 5.0 is SO easy and cheap to make a quick street car.

BTW, I drive a V6, does that make my car girly? :D

I have a 2003 V6 just so i can actually pay the insurance but as soon as i get the money i'm dropping a Cobra R engine in it. but if you don't put anything on it and keep it stock then yes it is a somewhat of a girls car.

i will agree on the point of most stang owners having the worst attitudes the majority of the time and with there being 10000 of them on the road(which is why i got an 03, b/c i haven't seen hardly any of them on the road around bentonville much.). that is one thing that i have made sure i don't brag about a car unless i can prove it.

Too bad theres no way to get a Cobra R engine :D You'll have to get an 03 cobra engine with will cost you 10g's or an 99/01 Cobra engine which will be around 3500. Then you'll need a new tranny and rear end.

1. Cobra R engine. lets see 5.4 special hand built engine only 300 made. Only way to get one is take one out of a cobra R. You could get a truck engine but that has a much larger deck and would be a lot slower
2. Why in the hell would you get a V6 for a engine swap car? I can understand you daily driver being a v6 but nto a project. Everything under your engine is going to be ripped out, all your suspension would have to be replaced, and all of your drive train would be replaced too.
3. Waste of time and money. If you want to spend 10k+ thats going to be as fast as an LS1 go ahead but when you raise your hood before hand then get spanked everyone is going to laugh at you hardcore.
4. You would be better off with the fox body thing or if your hell bent on the new body style atleast find a gt or cobra on the cheap and put yoru cash into that. I don't know if you know this but the 4.6 and 5.4 are very very very much alike. While the displacment is larger many of the connections and hardware are the same much like on the 5.0 and 5.8 in early modle fords.
5. Last and not least i believe this part of the thread should be moved under people talking out there ass :welcome:

yea i guess, can find one pretty cheap through my dads friend but i don't know what exactly what i'm gonna drop in it yet, right now i don't hardly have any money in my name. all i know is that i have to get something faster or just supe up this engine.

modding is very addictive. I thought all I wanted was around 300rwhp, now I want 350rwhp with the stock twins. Soon Ill probobly want a 500rwhp with a monster single turbo. Shit loads of money

I'll tell ya there are a few late 90's cobra's for sale. One up across the street from Braums in bville thats a 96 black with 60k for $11,000, a 96 mystic with low miles for 14k in newspaper, and my friend says one of his uncles or sumn has a 96 mystic with 65k for like 10,000.

once everything is fixed i was told to expect around 315 or so at 12psi. Thats with intake which i dont have yet. Once i get my exhaust it should be upwards 330rwhp. Or so ive been told.

With all the problems I would say 220 or so. Running 5 psi on 1st turbo(good day) and 7psi(good day on second turbo). its a sequential set up. It should be a 12-10-12 boost pattern.

ok normally I won't say this cause I like people asking questions and getting answers, cause it means there learning and all. But dropping a Cobra-R block in a V6 chasis is probably one of the dumbest things ive heard in a while. It was said earlier about getting a new rear end and tranny. But thats not the half of it. When people talk about putting LT1/LS1's in V6's camaro chassis theres much more to go around. Suspension has to be redone as well as, motor mounts, drivetrain, tranny, rear end and the V6 chassis (imo) can't handle a heavier block because the car itself is really light. After all those mods you can probably go out and buy a used Cobra and save money. I just can't stand people talkin allllll this stuff about what there gonna do to their car when in all reality there not. Droppin new blocks, supercharger, turbos, N2O (<~believeable sometimes). Shoot for next summer my plans are TB Bypass, new CAI, new ignition coils and maybe new shocks. Sorry .. I'm done now. Bad week, took it out ^^

You coulda also be, whats the word im looking for........rare I guess and stroke the 3.8 to a 4.2 and slap a kenny bell supercharger on it and have worlds of fun. Probably be cheaper and be pretty cool to me. :)

hahahah a stroked out v6 with some boost. Hummm stroked out 4 banger.... lol but anyways v6 mustang are nice if you going to make them for show but if you into the go grab on the a v8. While you can argue that a v6 could be faster if you start stock on both and do the same mods on each the v8 will be faster. And in some cases the v6 perforamnce parts cost just as much or more because there not really sought after in racing world of mustangs. If you planning to keep the v6 id drop some money into a system from usa pawn and some tv's dvd and some rims to being with.

if you want a balls to the wall car, a v6 is not the way to go. if you wanted a sleeper that no one would expect, you could mod a v6 but IMO that is waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much money for the horsepower you would be getting when the cobra makes it stock. yes you would have to redo all the suspension, tranny, rear end (you could drive around the with v6 one if you don't wanna get on it, speed over like 50, and never drop the clutch if it is a 5/6 speed) quite frankly man, if you wanna go fast GET A 5.0!!!!!!! very few people around here have a HIGHLY modded 5.0. i am trying to talk to rents into getting me one. 73stang the v6 f-bod chasis is the same as the v8 (the f-bod was a very expensive chasis to build, the reason they stopped making them btw, and why would GM or any manufacter create 2 different chasis for what is basically the same car) sell your new v6 and get an 88-91 5.0 fox body mustang. the are sooooooooo light and easy to mod. you would make enough off the v6 to get a new motor, drop it in, new rear end and tranny, full exhaust (headers included) different intake (if you wanted) and a supercharger. (this is if you get like 10k out of the car mind you) i don't care what you 4.6ers say but the 5.0 rocks. (and so does the lt1 and the ls1 lol)

you are right ... the chasis is the same but the placement of the motor is different, obviously because one have 2 more cylinders. Which is why motor mounts have to be replaced and moved. Suspension on V6's is different from the LT1/LS1's because it doesn't have to support as much weight in the front. Tranny, and rear end should be a given why they have to be replaced.

that would be pretty interesting, i thought about just modding out this engine and maybe in a few years getting the new one or keep this one depending on what all i do to it. i'd still rather have a V8 in it but from talking to one of the guys i go drag racing with, they say i could a hell of a lot of fun with this V6.

You wouold have a lot more fun with a v8 than a v6. Ford doesn't really produce a good 6 banger like nissan or toyota. Get the 8 get a slightly older car. Have a hell of a lot more fun and be able to go a lot faster for the money. BTW do you go to b-ville HS?

I'm more into the newer body style w/ the vents and the new reversed scoop. but hell if i really want to have fun i just pull out my 69 Dart that is set up just for drag racing, i just want this car to be a bit faster so i can enjoy the ride more. And yea i go to BHS, my name's Rafe.

hahahah i knew it had to be you. My friend bought a 99 cobra in 02 for 14k. You could find a 01 for about 16-17k. Then you get your performance and body.

I hope you have a lot of money to get a custom crank ground for you. You will also have to blue print out your entire engine and get a cam ground out, new heads, valves, blah blah blah.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Don't listen to john :P Get the cobra drod a supercharger on it then go B)

yah, but u gotta remember the cool factor, having something that can compete but with an unexpected powerplant is always fun, less is more :thumbup: i had a guy in a ranger race me, and i pulled from him, he yelled and asked if i had a 302, i said no, its just a 2.9 :D , he got this look on his face like someone slapped him :o so i asked what he had, and he replied,........302... :(

that would be him. Ben ordered a kit too but he just got a 23mph speeding ticket in a construction zone passing in double lines too loud of exhaust and no seat belts so i dont know if he will do it or not

Nothing is wrong with Mustangs. The only way I see a 'Stang GT, Z-28, Cobra, or SS as being "girly" is because of the overabundance of Hawaiian lei's around the rearview mirror. Honestly, people, they aren't cool unless you're a chick. Even then, it's questionable. :lol:

I see often, really too many times, where people get a V6 'Stang or Camaro for insurance reasons, and say, "Yeah, I'm going to drop a V8 in this sucka". I mean, that's a cool thought and everything.. And I don't see a problem in getting a V6 because of insurance, but come on.

If you drop a V8 in it, your insurance will go up to the premium for a V8 anyway. And if you do drop a V8, and still claim a V6 on insurance.. If you get into a wreck, you're only going to get reimbursed for a V6, and if your insurance company finds out you've been lying on your claim form-- you're sued.. Seriously.

So, BigRedStang03, I'd say, mod your V6. If power was such a big deal to you, and money isn't, you would've went with the V8 to start. There's no shame in going with the old saying, "Less is more". It's all in preferance. So mod your V6 if thats what you really want. Otherwise, step back and regroup, maybe head back to the dealer and get a V8. But remember, the insurance will still kill you if you're under 18. Which I'm assuming you are. You're Rafe Patton, right?

Anyways, thats all.

if i can mod a 3.4 to be pretty damn fast for a V6 (imo) you can mod a 3.8 just as good. I have a video of a 3800 SII breakin the 600hp mark :surp:
