Pulley

I got a pulley on the left side that is really wobbly. I think it might be the power steering because in the morning when its cold it cuts out. Anyone know how to fix the wobble. I'ts makin the whole car shake for god sakes! :wacko: :burnout:

It would have two metal lines connected to it and a plasic dipstick type cap on it if it was the powersteering pump.

I dunno nissan parts, but it could be some type of bearing failure as well, just as 73stang had on his camaro last year. It wasnt the pulley but the pulley shaft from what I could gather.

But yea, you definetly need to check it out before it eats the belt up :unsure:

have you checked to see if its loose?

I tightened the main bolt in the center and it didn't help. I think the pulley might be like a tensioner pulley that keeps the belt tight. So if that's too loose will it wobble like that. Ill make sure to check the shaft and all that too. :thumbup:

Hmmm, the pulley might be warped due to overheating of exhaust bearings.... The transdirectional pulley chord may have stress cracks in it also.

Sorry about that previous info about the Powerstearing pump, Yours may have a remotely located reservoir that the dipstick is located on. I realized that the next day but havent been able to get on yet.

yea with my maro the whole pulley was wobbling like a mother ... make all kinds of ruckus. Replaced it, now its really smooth...

Is it making a whining noise? That's your fun sign of "jesus christ my power steering is going out. If the pulley itself it actually wobbling, then that means the shaft it's on isn't being held steady inside the unit itself. That means very bad wear. Strip down and repair, or replace.
