Today it rained. I was off to Best Buy to apply for a job (quite an unsuccessful search thusfar). The route is a right tasty little stretch with all manner of fun pieces of 'top. There are tight hairpins, long sweepers, and entertaining switchbacks- all strung together with all manner of straights: a few short bursts and my favorite intensly long stretches with lovely elevation changes. Enough about that. I came up over one of those aforementioned elevation changes and saw open, slightly damp, road in front- a beautiful sight. No one was to be seen, no cops, no traffic. For quite some time I've been wondering the top end of my XR. Stupid, you ask? Quite. Fun? Oh yes. I was in fourth and I hit the fun button below my laden right foot and rolled into the psi. The scenery began to blur. The feeling of awe and invincibility set in. Tunnel vision is a good description. At around 110 mph, I shifted out of fourth (although fourth had more to go, honestly). I immediately noticed the Jeep Liberty seemingly reversing to meet me, so I let up at 120+ with around 3000rpm more in fifth and used the less-fun-than-the-really-fun pedal to scrub my speed down to a more polite 65mph. Barely exhailing, she was- Ellie: that wonder XR. I love my car.

I need to do some more fun stuff with my car..once I fix it..
Fix as in Replace CV boot, Get NEW Battery, Fix tire, fix wheel a-line-ment, replace tranny fluid (which looks like 33,000 mile oil) and fix the bouncing in my car.
FUN! :strange:

Not to sound like too much of a dick, but trying to top a car out on a narrow wet road is not the best idea. Wait untill it is dry at least.

My suggestion is to go out towards Sonora during the night sometime or later during the day and do it then. When I tried to top it out I saw no cars and got up to 165 or so before I had to slow down due to a turn. You could probobly get yours toped out.

ya, out towards sonora is dang wide and fun. I'm pretty sure I've got a good 160mph on my hands...not gonna go any faster until I get new suspension tho.

yah i'm afraid of speed in my car, the wind noise from the top makes it 2x scarier than my truck, and my tires suck, have at least 2 nails in at least one of them, and they are beginning to come apart, i finally hit 100 trying to get past a pokie old man today on 540
i bet it will be pretty limited with the 4.11s tho
btw: tibby, whats up? you ignored me on 71 today at lunch!
