Ok.. the nitrous car ain't street legal in Arkansas but the other two are. I'm just playin tho. The 'vette would be the only 1 truly considered a street car and I've already had some close calls locally with her. The new clutch helped a ton and we got some new rubber for her so I'm anxious to get her back on the road.

Truth be told, I have more fun making cars go fast that actually driving them fast. Guess it's just being old but I enjoy building up the cars/trucks/etc more than I like the finished product. I especially like it when my customers get good results from their rides whether on the track or on the street.

We've been concentrating on getting our Ponies ready for the 2005 season and it's looking good so far - time will tell.

KT is a legend w/o a doubt. ive also been hearing about turbo Tai (spelling??) and vegas a bit. IMO, if ya street race, youve probably heard about KTs teggy. i heard about KT about 3 years ago lol.

it's more like what hasn't he had... his current rides are a 911 TT (he's selling it now or has it sold) His wife's beater is an 04 or 05 E55 AMG, he just sold a stroker'd nitrous'd z06, and til he buys another real car he just bought a C6 Vette.

He had a more recent M5 that he'd autoX race. He has had his C6 for 3 weeks and autoX raced it this past weekend which was awesome to see. He had or might still have the Impala SS, and he had a Walser Supra. He is a really nice guy

i think the navigator is the best FAMLY car. just b/c of the room and luxury features. haha but not if you're talking performance,it's very slow. and so far we've yet to get any kind of burnout from my mom's and it's an '03. however the '04's have no problem but it has a traction button where my moms doesnt.. i guess that might have something to do w/it. they pull horse trailers alright, i wouldn't want to pull it w/anything else b/c i love the luxury.. but i remember coming back from a show in st. louis last summer, i had its ears pinned back, to the floor and we were doing a whopping 85 miles an hour. BUT our trailer is really big.. makes that navigator look tiny

That is very fast when you talk about quarter mile times from an engine of that magnitude. You start with little and capitalize on the situation and make it that much better, thats IMPRESSIVE!

no one was claiming that was fast , i was stating that everyone was talking about KT, so I was listing a car that had recently beat him at the track. And for the record, compared to any all motor import cars out here, thats better than what they are running. Just to set the record straight. And dont forget that this car is almost stock, just smsp header and tuning, so for just having those couple of mods, i would give it a little more respect. As for having faster cars to come, like i said, soon....................you are welcome to come to the shop and i will show you.

Hmmm, there might be a new teggy to take the new crown of fastest street car. my buddy is building his engine right now, well brock is building it, and he is paying for it. Should have 25-30 psi of boost, and from what daniel told me, he should be in the 10's. Brock if you think he will be faster or slower, let me know, i dont want to give the wrong info :laugh:

fast is a relative term, whats fast to you may not be fast to me. i only used a STOCK corvette to compare it to b/c i was catching some crap about them not being that fast or something i can't remember what it was. i didn't say it was a benchmark, but it is a stock v8.

mine is not stock but i'm not sure what it would run so i don't use mine to compare it to.

It's not that it's a fast car....it is the fact that it has jumped a good 5 seconds on it's stock 1/4 time....

Think of it this way...wouldn't you be impressed (not by the speed but by the accomplishment) of your stock vette (does 13s) hitting 8s with the work you put into it....I would think so.

Im not treating this as a 4cyl vs v8 argument. It is a argument between a few people and one that will not give anything the respect it is due.

It may not touch your corvette in a race, but that doesnt mean you cannot acknowlegde that they have done a good job knocking 5 secs off the stock time.

lol oh give me a break, i think having surgery is a perfectly good reason not to get out and about for a while. :rolleyes: and i am not looking for any excuse not to go to the track, it just so happens i have better things to do w/my time as far as i'm concerned. like i said before, competing w/my horses means more to me than making a trip to a drag strip to prove what i already know.. that my car is fast. i'm not going to scratch any shows b/c you want to show me a "fast" 4 cyl. i've been to a track when imports were running and they were painfully slow and it was so boring i have no desire to go back again. atleast not for any import.

of course i jump back on that bandwagon, it makes sense. i already said thats great for him, but i still don't get it.

Not basing this towards anyone, just getting my two cents in :thumbup:

First of all, the difference between a your Corvette running 13’s stock and say a Civic that does 17’s, 18’s stock is this.. If someone puts time and money into a Civic and the Civic runs 13’s, that’s a 5second drop in a ¼ time. If you put time and money into a Corvette and drop its’ ¼ time 5 seconds, that’s an 8 second car. The difference between doing this with a Civic and doing this with a Corvette is that the Civic is a 4cyl and the Corvette is an 8cyl. True, the V8 is larger, so there is its’ pro. But at the same token, the 4cyl is more fuel efficient, so there is its’ pro. The ¼ ‘impressive standard’ for the 4cyl is NOT going to be the same as the ¼ ‘impressive standard’ for a V8.

You comparing your stock Corvette to a modified Civic running the same time is NOT fair. A stock Corvette MAY run 13’s, but that is not impressive to modified Corvette guys who are running 8’s. A stock Civic MAY run 17’s/18’s, but that is not impressive to modified Civic guys who are running 13’s. The benchmark between the two are TOTALLY different because they are different classified vehicles.

By a stock Corvette driver downing a modified Civic for running the same time as they are, that’s comparable to a male laughing at a woman for not being able to lift 100 pounds with ease. They are not in the same class. They were not created equally. Hence, the benchmark for “Fast” is different between the two.

It’s easy for a stock Corvette driver to look down on a modified Civic driver for running the same time as they are. But once the stock Corvette driver has to face someone actually in their own class (a heavily modified Corvette), they’ll lose.. And that’s all the satisfaction anyone needs. ;)

Yes, you could mod yours, but, I could take the same amount spent on what you spent on that car, and make a car 10x better. I built a Civic w/ $10,000 that ran a low 11. Thats buying the car, suspension, brakes, engine, & turbo.

If money isn't an option, V8 is the way to go. If money isn't an option, V8 is the way to go. But, for the price you spend on a new V8 car, I can make a used turd perform MUCH better. And don't doubt me, I've done it before.

Sounds like a good plan, but I would supercharge it if I were you. Instant torque and no turbo lag are nice.

I looked into turboing a 396, but it would have ended up costing way too much. If you do it you basically have to start with a aftermarket block and work from there, and thats expensive. now I'm talking 1000hp, i didnt see the point in turboing for less power when nitrous will do the job fine below that.

if someone calls me out on a weekend starting.. sometime in april, i think the 30th is when i scheduled my first show this season, that gives me a little time to get ready since i can't ride again until april, then i definately wont make it b/c i'm super booked. now before then i have to get a new clutch and 2nd gear. the reason it hasn't been done so far is b/c i'm putting it in terry's hands and he's asking around and trying to find the best setup possible so we don't have to go through this again any time soon. which i support that fully, and we havent been in a hurry b/c of a) my sugery b.) trying to find the best setup and c) we're going to wait and do everything at the same time (2nd gear and putting on my new mods). and we haven't made any progress with my transmission b/c i've been lazy and have yet to call GM and gripe and see if they'll stand behind it. so things aren't moving quickly but theres no reason to at the moment.. i'd rather my car sit in the garage a while and get a good setup then it be sitting in the garage AGAIN due to us being in a hurry to put a clutch in it

Hell yeah. You can get parts cheap and there are all sorts of things you can get off ebay. My uncle has a turbo'd 355 in a fox body. The bottom end is just your basic 355(with really good internals of course)....if anything ever blows, it won't be that expensive to rebuild. The top end is the SB2(nascar) heads and intake with a custom fuel injection. He said he found alot of stuff on ebay cheap. Of course, it all depends on how hardcore you want to go, but the SBC is a cheap way to race.

And i'd definately go with turbo charging instead of supercharging, unless you are wanting to do it old school. :thumbup:

Honestly I can't tell they both scare me.

I drove the Cobra a little on Saturday and tried the ole 2nd gear gun and go to see how far she would boil the baloneys. I’ll be darned if she didn’t try to get away from me, sideways like a MF, scary shit when you’re driving your dream car (I wanted one for a loooooong time).

Right now I’m putting an LSD rear-end in the Z, it probably won’t “hit” quite as hard because I’m going from a 3.90 gear to a 3.70 sorry Brock.

Guess I’ll have to figure out how to work this G-tech thing and take them both to the dyno. The Cobra is tuned the Z would need some tweaking, timing, jetting, advance curve etc.

I know it’s not the answer you’re looking for but I hope to have it ready for MOKAN some time this spring.

Taking a Civic Hatchback (not being a $40,000 car) and make it 4-5 seconds faster all motor (your pretty stupid that means w/o turbo/nitrous/supercharger etc) is very impressive.

I think them taking that car and making it that much faster is better than you taking your Corvette and making it 1.5 seconds faster.

They are dedicated to their car give them some fucking respect and get your fucking head out of your ass.

The subaru is not my only car, it is my "have fun playing around in it" car. Unlike some people, I can afford to keep every single car I have ever owned(and I plan on doing so for the rest of my life) and I will never sell any of them. That car was handed down to my at the age of 16 and I have bonded with it, so it will stay with me til I die of old age.

As for talking bad about people's cars, when did I do that? I never once even mentioned that guys car. But I am sure that he would agree that he cannot keep up with a Diablo.

The subaru is not my only car, it is my "have fun playing around in it" car. If she is a decent driver, you wont stand a chance(especially from a dig). I do however want to see her race that supercharged rsx. That would be interesting.

Yow know what dave, I will do a run with you from a dig in the justy. I think I can pull on you until about 25-30mph but I want to see for sure. Hondas have no torque and I have 4.10 gears.

since i have been in this for a whils i whould have to say that yes kt is one of the most well known, but as for fastest its a mix between dave, kt,and oliver. vegas has been in it for a while but like he said he couldn't be one of the fastest trying to work and fix his car up thats why he opened the shop. most well known for driving skills is kt, dave, vegas,oliver,terance, and a few that i can't think of right now. as for me i like to think that i am a good driver but as for fastest if what goes down sat. that i am hoping will me me low on the totem pole again cause it looks like the rsx wil be gone.but this just gives me more money to fix something else up. so when i do come back out whatch out cause its not going to be slow.

nope, people who work at chevrolet dealerships will tell you, it's the skip shift that does it. they recommend you unplug it or buy the skip shift eliminator b/c it'll knock out your synchronizers and if it's really bad you'll have to put a new 2nd gear in it. which we imagine is where mines at. we talked to fletcher chevrolet not long ago, they said they've not had very many probs w/them b/c they've only sold autos for the most part

so no, it was not i who messed it up :P

Beginning of the first day he was at the back of the pack and by the end of the first day he was way out in front.

Then he drove Formula Ford cars around and still dominated. I'd love to see you get behind the wheel of your Vette and take it around a track at high speeds the whole time.

Don't assume that Terry is the best driver on the board when you don't know KT...

Ok, since I have an LS1 also and have the CAGS Skip Shift, I know alot about it...

First off, It only makes you shift into 4th from 1st if you are accelerating at 21% or less and you are going from 15-19mph...

Basically all you n eed to do is speed up a little bit and you can shift normal and quit trying to throw it into 2nd...

If you would read your handbook on your car it would tell you all about it...But since you know everything about cars already, I'll just leave you to make a fool of yourself.

oh good lord, i never said i knew everything about cars. yes i did read my manual where it says not to force it into 2nd. BUT if you're above the limit when u go to shift and its OK to go to 2nd, but then take your foot off the gas and it gets down to where it wants you to go to 4th it will try to push it out of 2nd gear. i've already been over this w/the GM people :rolleyes:

The cars they are talking about are cars from last year.....when there wasnt as many people in to it..........................now there are more and this year you will see alot of 9-12 sec. import 4 cyl. cars .................i think this will be a great year for nwa. you have to remember there was not alot of knowledge out this way before about import racing EXCEPT from Ty, Kt, Brock, myself and few others. Now we have a shop that is local and people are getting more in to it because there is more knowledge. So 4 cyl. are getting faster time slips..................it has been just taking awhile................so maybe this will help you understand a little why people respect these 4 cyl. more..............just as fast for half the weight. Me i like muscle cars and import cars........................but i love the aerodynamics of an import , the design of a honda engine, the power that can be created by a 4 cyl. Even if i can buy a car like a corvette its not for me ..................................i like the challenge of what i do , just like you like your car because its already fast. Racing is racing, no matter what you drive.

i DO love my life, i do have the best parents and brothers i could ask for, i have the best car i could ask for, and yes i love my horses aswell. however! i do not by any means have that 6 figure bank account like you are implying. money is limited for me like anybody, but i choose to spend it on diff things and have been very fortunate to be able to afford the things that i can. i work for my money like everyone else lol and am very close to making minimum wage when it comes to working for my dad. BUT i have taken what i had w/my horses and i've run w/it... so far things have been wonderful

yes my parents are very successful and have done well in life, i hope i will be able to follow in thier footsteps and be successful aswell. my father especially is the most dedicated and Godly man i know and the Lord has blessed him and his hard work. he has earned every penny he makes and i'm very proud to be his daughter :)

and every race i was granny shifting, i have since been enlightened to the method of proper shifting, wow!

so that is a V8 vs a turbo 4cyl vs a sprayed 4 cyl vs a blown 4cyl vs an all motor 4cyl

and they were all about the same :thumbup:

however i know the vette would spank me on the 0-40mph

didn't say that it does. It multiplies the effect of the power, therefore making the car accelerate as if it has alot more power than the engine really provides. Hence why my car can chirp 3rd. I have seen cars take off 3/4 of a second off their 1/4 mile times from gears alone.

And you would be way wrong. The ZO6 outperforms the NSX in just about everyway...accleration, braking, cornering, etc.

FYI the reflection in the quarter panel of the cobra is a 2002 Dodge Ram with 4" Rancho lift, in cab air adjust 9000 shocks and 35's :D I love that truck!!! Gets lousy gas mileage though grrrrrr

Corvettes rock. Period. The ZO6 is faster, corners harder, brakes faster than the NSX and costs 40 grand less. Please, explain how the NSX is WAY better.

You've listed 2 things. Craftsmanship and uniquess. If you pay $40 grand more for a car, you're damn right it had better have better craftsmanship. The corvette is the bargin of it's class. And why are the NSX's unique? You are paying $40 grand more for an outdated car that is slower that a ZO6. If you wanted something unique, you could get a Carrera C4 or a Viper GTS, both of which are in the NSX's price range and will out perform it.

Don't get me wrong. The NSX is a cool car. However, as i already said, it's getting old. The argument that the NSX is way better than a C5 is pretty weak.

lol no, if i decided to go ahead and order a new Z06 you would just go on about how "rich" i am :rolleyes: just like i told the guy at the dealership, if somebody comes up w/a way to make a conversion kit for hide away headlights i'd consider one. depending on how good they looked i'd probably buy one. but not w/the headlights like they are, i think they're ugly
The headlights were designed like that, over flip-ups, for a reason. To reduce drag and it's that many less components to break and need to replace. The biggest difference between the C5 and C6 is that the C6 has less drag, even though only a little more hp (I think 20 or somethin like that). The Z06, yes, has plenty more power, but uses the same C6 shell because it has LESS DRAG. Chevy doesn't care if you don't like the headlights.

oh i realize they were designed for a reason, that man at the dealership kept going on and on about the drag, and i know that's a positive change. BUT i'm a weird person and i care a lot about how the car looks, even more so than performance. i can't remember exactly but i think the c6's have 400hp, but don't quote me on that b/c it's been a while and we didn't discuss them very much b/c i was more interested in the Z06's
