..you know..i first came here thinking..."cool somewhere i can go for help and a kinship"...im begining to believe that some of the..."members"...are here to critisize and basicly blow hard about their hot little shyt...it troubles me to think that even in our small circle of this life style that other people cant just freakin HELP one another instead of saying....thats not good or i wouldnt do it that way....is that not the point of customizing ur car....to make it urs...as YOU want it....not as others would like to see it?....if i ask for help about something.....and you can help..then by all means hook a ninja up but if all ur gonna do is flaunt ur shyt and wanna be knowledge up in my face...save it for someone who actually cares to impress you.....and like wise if i can help any of my fellow tuners...i'll do my best........thank you for understanding :..:
I have been known to do (what looks like) this as well and I apologize if anyone feels I have done this type of critisism to their opinions.
Most of the time other people (in general) usually tell people that they shouldnt do it that way based on experience in that subject.
Ex: I have recently posted info for 94SentraSE where I told him "for the money I would do other things" basically stating my opinion on the subject because he is new to the community of Tuning.
There is a lot of Stereo typical people out there who guide others in the wrong direction as far as Imports go and a lot of 'newbies' think they can add timing gears or exhaust and get 100+ HP. In my opinion, I am trying to help others see different sides of their picture, not dissing their ideas.
I LOVE To help people with problems and try to figure things out, always have, and from this I've learned a lot about different types of vehicle systems. I usually offer my assistance to anyone who needs it and go as far as to even meet total stangers to help them out when i'm available to.
Again I apologize if anyone has been offended by me or any of the Administrators. We welcome everyone and try to provide assistance in whatever area they are needing.
Please note:
I am not a certified mechanic/electronics major, any help or advice I give is based on my own experience/technical articles.
Peace

Lee, I know exactly what you're talking about.
If someone makes a post saying, "Hey, I want to do this, anyone have any input on me doing this?" But the viewers of the topic think that the idea is too complicated, and know an easier way to do it, and then reply, suggesting an easier and less complicated method.. But the guy with the original idea is saying, "No! I want to do it this way-- regardless of it being complicated.." Because it is more original-- although harder.. He wants something more unique. But the other people are saying, "No, don't do it that way-- this other way is so much easier. Although it is more popular."
It's as if, unique and original ideas are unwelcomed. Well, that's not the case. People are trying to give advice & input on easier ways to do it. If you don't want to go the easy route- and don't mind the extra work & money. Say so! Just say, "I know this isn't the most popular or easiest way, but I would really prefer to do it to my original plans. Any input on my plan would be appreciated."
People just, by nature, try to do things that are a little more easier and well tested.. Sort of like, walking through the woods. Would you rather take the beaten path, where you know tons of people have gone before? Or would you rather make your own path, and test the limits of the woods? It's really in what you're looking to achieve. But to stand up for any and all opinions, like I said, most generally people want something that is quick and easy.
So, take that as you will. The people here are willing to help, they just don't know to what extent you're willing to go for a project. Make it clear that you're willing to do the extra work and sink the extra money, and they probably won't make suggestions otherwise.
Good luck with your projects, Lee.

Well, Triepsyn and BDP have pretty much covered everything that i agree with. Bottom line is though, we're at least glad that if someone has a problem with the way something is going within the community, that they will make it known. To sum it up, be original and customize your car to your standards. Your car is an accent of your personality. I try to keep my criticism to a minimum when it comes to other people's cars because afterall, its easy for people to take it to heart. On the other hand, if someone's honest opinion is asked, they should give them an honest answer. Its all the your tone though. And yes, it is possible to pick up on someone's tone through typed words.

NOTE my avatar, people always give me shit for modding a truck, i do it bc no one else does, i dont want my truck to be a hot rod V8 cuz then it would just be another hotrod, i want something that is totally different from imports but is still kinda similar to ya'll, the only thing american about the drivetrain in my TRUCK is the rearend, the tranny is japanese (mitsubishi) and the engine is german (merkur)
some people say "well there is prob a reason why they dont mod trucks" i say "all the more reason for me to do it, it makes it that much more of a challenge and that much different from the rest"
i'll be at mokan and i'll even show at the auto-X events just to prove a point, granted i prob wont do very well, but i may surprise a few of you

Where ever you go people will critize you and your ride. People on this forum are no different. Most of them mean no harm by it though. I ask people why they do stuff because I dont see a point but I dont mean to hurt there feelings.
I personally am about performace before looks thats why I have put no money into the interior or exterior. I ask people why they put on bodykit after bodykit with nothing major in the engine. I mean no harm by it though. Its just my view point.
My advice is filter out all the negative stuff and forget bout it. Most of the time its nothing personal.

the reason for my out burst is obvious in the audio section of this forum...i want to put 4 12' and 2 10' speakers where my back seat WAS located....and all i asked was if someone knew of a good custom box builder...that was it..i didnt ask anyones opinion or give my opinion in any way shape or form....i appologize if it sounded wrong...

And, I gave you a number for someone to help you. Yes, I said you people do things funky. Big deal, if its going to hurt your poor little feelings that bad, you have issues. My occupation is car audio, thats all that I do. When I see someone doing something that is odd, it makes me wonder. I appologize if I may have made you feel "Critisized" about your 4 12's and 2 10's, I didn't realize you were going to whine this much. Sorry, and have a nice day.

I just wanted to let you know that he did not make a thread just about you, mearly a post :P I did the rest.
I cant understand - after all I've read today between you two - why your in such a bad mood!? It did sound pretty bad from my end as well Caleb.

Alright.. Maliwho97 & Juggalo. You two are both great guys. Sounds like some things might've been taken out of context. Juggalo-- Trust me, Maliwho is a great guy, I'm sure he didn't mean what he said in the wrong way. Maliwho-- You can tell Juggalo just wanted a little advice. You guys will be over this soon.. Don't worry about it. I just would rather see you guys talking it up rather than being angry. You both are too cool for that shit. Let's forget about this thread and instead keep that 479 Vibe alive.

Hahaha, We're cool! He was tired and grumpy, and I guess that he took my tone of typing a little wrong. I in no way tried to poke fun at him.... Emphasis on a phrase is easily mistaken when you have to read it rather than listen to it.... Thats where the mistake was made. Juggalo, I'd love to help you design a system, let me know if you need any more advice!
