2000 GTP vs. Yellow Z06 Corvette

Well, it was about 10:45 AM this morning and I had just gotten some groceries at the Rogers Wal*Mart and stopped for some food at Chic-fil-a, then got on the highway and headed back to Springdale...

I had just passed the Rogers/Pinnacle exit and I noticed a yellow C5 hardtop comming up behind me about to pass.. Well, as it slowly crept past me going probably only a little more than 70mph, I noticed the Z06 badging on the side and thought to myself... http://www.nwaimports.com/forums/html/emoticons/drool2.gif

Unfortunately, yesterday I had stopped by my storage unit to get a bunch of clothes and stuff, and hadn't yet had a chance to unload it yet... http://www.nwaimports.com/forums/html/emoticons/headshake.gif

Anyways, I thought I would try to play a little bit since it's not everyday you see a Z06 and so I let him cruise past about 1/2 car lengths and I stepped on it. He actualy got it almost instantly after I did and we raced from about a 70mph roll to about 105... He put 3 cars easily on me and was still pulling hard....

He had Michigan tags and the seemed to be bone stock...

Believe it or not, but the vette weighs just a tad bit more than the Grand prix (disclaimer...I know the 01 vette does, checked the curb weight...not sure of the Z06). Where he got you was the 50 to 80 extra HP...hahahaha

Next time tell him to pull 2 plug wires to make it even....hahahaha

The corvette doesn't weight more than a grand prix, as far as i know.

2001 Grand Prix GTP: Curb Weight: 3396-3583 lbs(don't know much about them, but 3396 was the lowest weight i found, and i don't even know if it was a GTP).
2001 ZO6 curb weight: 3130lbs
2001 Corvette coupe: 3212lbs

The ZO6 has a few weight reduction things done to it that make it lighter than a standard corvette.


So yeah, it more HP, more torque, better gear ratios, aerodynamics and less weight that got you. ;)

I checked the door panel on my buddys and the curb weight was within about 200 pounds. To be honest, I dont know if I was shocked that it almost weighed as much as the Grand Prix, or if it weighed more.

Ok, after further investigation you are right. My curb weight is 3414 and the vette is 3212. I still find it hard to believe that the vette is within 200 pounds of the Grand prix.. Good catch Lethal...way to keep me honest...hahah
