Comin' home tonight, at 102 and Moberly Ln, westbound, a Dodge 2500 pulled up. I was watching him in the rearview because he looked like he was fighting to get there. Well, I didn't know if he wanted to race, and when the light turned green he didn't gun it, but he was doing the whole "as-long-as-I'm-in-front-of-you" dance. Well, at about 4000rpm in 1st, when I probably would have shifted, I just decided to gun it. Of course, v-tec kicked in in less than a second and I heard him get on it. I figured he was in low rev because I walked away and he dropped out at 60mph, about 2 car lengths behind.
Well, we got up to 102 and J st., still west (obviously), and he was inching forward on the yellow of opposite direction. I waited. It was wet, so I KNEW I would have to start at the bottom of the tach. Green...I heard him gun it. I tapped the clutch and got just loose enough, but when I gripped, I was still sitting on his rear wheel...by the time I hit the top of second, I was 1 - 1 1/2 car lengths up, and, again, he dropped out at about 60-70.
I didn't want to race in the dark down 102, but, well, you know the feeling.
It may not have been a hemi, but a V8's a V8. It seems like it's ALWAYS the fullsized trucks that give me shit too....as long as I can still dust most of them, I'm happy.

I dunno about a 2500 with a Hemi, I thought they only made the Hemis in the 1500s. Oh well all the same, good kill; and yes a V8 is a V8 when its getting beat by a 4 cylinder :).
One time I raced a shortbed std cab Hemi ram in my old Alero and I stayed with him the whole way. He had the 20's, but still, I had a dinky V6 .

Hey, I'll race my "dinky V6" any day. :D
Actually, they do make Hemi 2500's. Great kill. I figured they would put up much more of a fight but, then again, they probably weigh a lot more than the half tons.

I don't think I was clear...
This one WASN'T a Hemi, atleast I don't believe. I don't really make an attempt to stay up-to-date on Dodge, but the Hemi's didn't start going into them until this last body style right??? This one was like a '99-'01/'02 (the previous body style) so I'm PRETTY sure it wasn't a hemi...
that's why I said "a V8's a V8". I probably WOULD have a harder time with a Hemi. Of course, wet roads were more of a disadvantage to me that night because he had some truck tires, so even with the lack of rearend weight, I think he had better grip. Anyways, a kills a kill, or so they say.

Ah, ok. I gotcha. Yeah, the Hemis have 345 HP and not sure on the torque but probably somewhere around 400 so they're quite an upgrade over the regular 351's or whatever they put in the 3/4 tons.

Yeah, I figured that you said it didn't have a Hemi. But all the same.
Hey Flawlez, mine had more displacement :P. But then again, mine didn't have two turbos bolted onto it. You're Matt right? My name is Jason, I'm friends with Patrick, and used to go to CLC (I think thats the name of the church...) every now and then. I doubt if you remember me, but I'm just trying to get my names straight.
Anyone know who use to drive the jackup maroon dodge in Bentonville? He had like 38's or 40's on it with (appeared to be) stock gears. It was REALLY Slow, he raced me in my El Camino and I shouldnt have wasted the gas

I couldn't have said it better...
It's like I stated somewhere else on here, it seems like these guys (Full size, naaaw, ALL pickup trucks, V6 AND V8 alike) are the ones what try to go at me. I guess they just think the CL is all luxury and look.
It may not be super trackworthy, but it holds its own on the street, for the most part.
