Instead of spending a couple of bucks on a new hose for the air box, I took off a non essential hose and made a couple of hoses out of it. I dont know if you would consider it ghetto or not.
hehe, where to start :D
I've done many ghetto things to get by with some past vehicles, but I drive em hard and they only last about 6months anyhow. Many of my 'ghettoness' has to do with break lines. I am always breaking brake lines! Ive used duct tape and silicon and clamps - DO NOT USE TRANNY FLUID for Break Fluid
I had to fix a Civic at Centerville so that he could get home.... The Altenator Bolt Snapped and the Alt. Lost tention, so I used Electrical Tape, Zip Ties and a 9/13 (I think) wrench to keep it in place for the drive back to rogers ^_^
Still havent got my wrench back
One Vehicle I had - maroon 87 Buick Skylark, the Ignition switch Broke on me while driving, and the wheel locked up. I had to just drive straight until I was off the road. I pulled the fuse and killed it, took off the steering wheel with the 4-way, removed the entire ignition setup and wired in Switches. I only had speaker wire (16G) accessable and some industrial copper I found on the side of the road. Needless to say after perfection of the ignition system and setup, I took it to walmart for an oil change, and the tech flipped the switches in the wrong series which caused all the smaller wires to overheat and melt together.... The whole console lit up in smoke and the starter ingaged continuously. It died not too long after while off roading. Threw a piston through the block.
I have many stories of past 'ghettoness', just ask Lazarus :D

I had a twist-tie holding my front bumper cap to the fender on my '93 Probe GT when I first bought it. At least the previous owner painted it the colour of the car so it wouldn't stand out so bad..
Moberly lane in Bentonville and Central - by Memorial Park - There use to be a huge hill at the light. My friends and I in high school use to get together with our radios and send a car down the road to change the stop light, when we got the go, we would speed down the road to hit around 65 and jump the intersection. We did this many many times a day. My girlfriend was in front of me and she said I was so high in the air, she could see the whole car behind me. There's a jump still accessable on "Bst" and 8th in Bentonville, but I've grown up some and not as crazy as I use to be.
Dunno if that story belongs here, but I was just thinking about it and getting excited remembering my past, so had to share :P

Once my valve cover gasket went bad, and Honda wasn't open on Sunday. So we wrapped a steel cable (covered in clear plastic) around the whole engine and put gasket sealer in it so I wouldn't get oil all over my header.
On my old Isuzu pickup I put duct tape on the spark plug wires. They were right over the exhaust manifold and the engine would miss once they got too hot. The duct tape actually worked, I was amazed.
One of my friends put water in the brake master cylinder in a POS '87 Wagovan. They finally got it running and the throttle cable got stuck. So it was running around town redlining until it finally blew. So I don't think they got to test the brakes any :). He also has a CarDomain page where they spent about $30 on his friends EG CX - lowered 5 inches, CAI, and something else, I think it was exhaust.
I have done a lot of ghetto stuff, but these were the only ones I could think of.

I remember that car...the purple one???
I couldn't believe it...Marlon knew the guy.
I ALWAYS wanted to race him, but everytime I'd see him on Walnut or something, by the time we got NEAR lining up together, one of use would be turning off or something.
I heard a LOT of people were beating him.
Anyway...
Cameron, who had the original CL in NWArkansas, the black one, he didn't want to buy an intake, so he ripped off the OEM one at the box, took the filter out of it, twisted it around into a cone, ducktaped it that way, and then ducktaped it onto the OEM tube...
It looked 100X more ghetto than it sounds.

i had to getto rig brock maliboo's brakes one time. The caliper came loose and started grinding at the wheel. when i finally tried to stop the wheel locked up on me. This was in russellville. which was qute a ways from home. so i went to an auto store grapped a small bolt got the caliper to stay and drove about 10 miles to oriely's to get a bolt that actually fit.. took me about 30 mins but still made it for the sound off.

And. you are a chickenshit that won't give his name, cause he will get his ass beat. Oh yeah, if you're over 18, good. Its legal for me. If you're not, I've got a waiver you can sign.
-edit
No one pay attention to this post, the dude who made comments towards Maliwho was deleted as well as his messages. So, this probably makes no sense whatsoever to you all.

Most ghetto...hmmm. I'd say ripping out my back seat and all the seat belt pulleys and bolts associated with said seat. It was all so I could gain that extra one millionth of a second to beat that other damn 240. Good news is, it worked. That and the poor bastard is still running the stock fan on the liquid clutch, so during the summer it's a joke. My two + 0 seater wins!

lol, ok
intake #1, flexi intake hose down to an empty foglight whole in m valance completely held on by zipties, turned in to gator golf, ripped the valance off, ran over it, the intake tube inraveled, and i ran over it and dragged it behind the truck
intake #2 aluminum dryer ducting and duct tape, lol, fell apart
what else?.....hmmmm
oh, lol, exhaust leak
my dad, instead of spending $10 on getting a new pipe welded up
bought an exhaust patch kit, used a hose clamp, this cloth stuff and putty, needless to say its leaking again!
