Well been looking around for a good mechanic/s to do a tranny swap clutch install and gear swtich/rear end rebuild. I've got a few places in mind but I thought i might see if anyone had good luck some where.

Okay. I guess I could try to recommend someone again. But If I go unappreciated again- hey at least I tried. I recommended Brooklyn to this guy for a tranny swap, he seemed to like him alot. Contacting him would mean, not going through the dealership, so maybe this will be better for you guys. If you want, I can talk to him. He likes to do stuff on his own time for extra cash. He's a tranny man, so he knows all about the good 'ol drive train of Fords.
I'll tell him exactly what you're needing to do and I'll get a rough estimate of what he'd charge. If you like the info I've given you, I'll give ya his phone number.

Lamp's Garage by the Jail in bentonville. He owns a few stangs and his whole family is into stangs. He'll do a good job for you at a good price. He told me to install a tranny with everything(tranny swap, auto to 5 speed) would run me 600 so it would be cheaper for you.
PM me if you want his number.
The old Wholesale transmission owner - origional one - lives close to Gravette and will rebuild trannys for people pretty cheap, will even pull it and put it in, quoted me a 350 turbo rebuild with shiftkit (old man type of shiftkit) pulled from my El Camino - overnight work $375.00!!! Try finding a shop that will pull it AND put in a shiftkit.
Thats a tranny tho, you were talking about Lamps Garage and I just remembered last time I was down there - cause we were talking about Bill or Bob - whoever (the tranny guy) so had to post it.

so would he put in a t## in my car that i bought or just rebuilt my t5 and what about the gears and clutch :)
I dunno I just talked to him about my auto, I wanted a 5 Speed but really just wanted the 350 rebuilt. I ended up going with Junk Yard Dog  They charged me $400 for install and rebuild, but the rebuild was just a pull from a junker.
The tail-yolk seal was leaky and I took it back, they told me I had a bad yolk. I replaced the Seal myself and it never leaked again. The tranny lasted 3 months.
I think John Beville might help out on something, just not sure what he'd charge for labor. He is an old friend of mine thats done some work for me in return for computer stuff. His shop is "Our Shop" on 14th St (I think) Opposite Tiger Blvd. I dont have the number right here, but call Autozone 271-0220 and ask them for "Our Shops" number.
He might Quote you too high tho, I think he's been getting slower in business.

He might Quote you too high tho, I think he's been getting slower in business. yeah thats why im looking all over. Hoping someone might know whats up with the hook up :P I was thinking the labor shouldnt be too much since you just have to drop the tranny install the clutch the bolt up the new tranny. I think the gears would cost the most on install.
What info have you learned about the T5? I have that damn T5 in my 5.0 and everyone tells me it is shit. I like it - the ratio's but my first gear is already gone in this tranny. It feels like it just slips out. If I down shift to first and keep the clutch in while stopped, it will hold first, but if I try to grab first from neutral it will just pop out. I dunno Manuals that well so I have no idea what its doing.
I messed it up at the track last year and all the power shifting. They supposedly only hold the stock HP/TQ + another 100 or so, but Im not sure.
What Tranny do you guys recommend for a Stang?

erm im going with a t56 lol....yeah. The set up im putting in will be fun  then off to race some f-bodys :D
There was a guy that use to work at/Own Car town who did rear end swaps all the time, but I dont know where he is now. They closed down. I know he owns some shop/jumk yard at "12 corners". He is a 'larger' guy and has many race cars that do 8's and 9's.
If I get his number I'd be glad to post it, im just not sure when you need it done by.
The Guy at O'Riellys in Rogers across from BlockBusters is a friend who knows alot of people, I cant remember his name off hand, but he has the Jacked up Jeep.
Mike at Seeburg Does misc jobs as well. He installed a tranny in a 89 5.0 we had, he never got the leaking stopped so he pulled it like 4 different times. You might ask him.
Also an old friend of mine that had a White Cobra, I think he had a Tranny swap done before. He works at Ron Blackwell RV across from the old AAF in rogers. He is a BIG mustang freak and is prolly your best bet at Info. His name is Robbie.

He told me he is getting a shop built sometime this year. He said he would do a cam install for me and still waiting for his to get it built. I guess i should ask him if its done. try A & E Dyno Electric in Springdale . . . they have done a few small things for me and their prices seem reasonable. Like 45$/hr but they can just charge by the job I think. They also tune cars, but never heard of anyone actually getting theirs done there.
Good luck.

i was told the clutch tranny should only take 3 hours. So that shouldnt be a lot of cash. But the parts on the other hand :o My tranny atm is a tremic so i might rebuild it and sell it t5 if anyones up for it
