Check your ground and make sure it has a good bare metal connection. Otherwise i would upgrade to 4 guage power and 4 guage ground wire.

then hook ur power wire directly to ur battery...if you aint got good power think about a power cap

^ cap's not needed. You are going to be fine with 8 gauge power on that amp. Cap will do nothing without an upgraded battery/alternator.

The reason you're fine is because you aren't blowing power wire fuses.

Is your amp a 2 channel class AB amp? If so, you're probably not pushing anymore than 3-400 watts at the most. An amp cutting out can be a number of things. Ground is more important than power. Is your ground 8 awg also? Make sure the mounting spot where you mount your ground to the chassis of the car doesn't have any paint on it, and if it does, scrape it all off until it's bare metal.
One other thing that can cause it is impedance. If you present a class AB amp with too low of an impedance, the amp will hit protect mode and shut off to protect itself from blowing. I'm willing to bet money that this is your problem. What are the specs on your L5's voice coils? how do you have them wired? It could be as simple as a wiring problem. Depending on the coil configuration of your sub and your amp's power ratings, you might either need to buy a new sub or a new amp.

have recommended 4gauge wire! next make sure the ground is short and stable! and it must be the same size er bigger than your power wire! next if running up to 500 watts it is recommended to install a half farad capacitor...since yer close to 1000 (doesnt matter what rms is, the amplifier stil pulls the same amount of amperage) run a 1 farad cap... make sure the amp positive wire is connected DIRECTLY to the battery...alternator MUST be able to support the extra power drain...remeber this rule of thumb 14.4volts is the best place for your amp, if you have only 12.6 per say yer amp is starving and will definately want the extra 1.4v...thats why us rolling radio stations have more than one battery and all the necessary wiring and shit to go with it... i have been in the game for 6 years around audio setups, and i am a member of the 2500w club and touched 3000watt club when i had my olds...

What kind of SPL did you get with that many watts?

Sounds like a case of the 2ohm mono load on a 4 ohm mono stable amp.....
