I was looking into volkswagen when i came across the GTI. I was wondering what people thought about Volks and what they thought about the GTI 337 Ed. If anybody has anythign good or bad to say please tell me i want to know anything i can about this car. I also heard they are pretty rare cars for the states. Whatever info you may have i would love to hear. Thanks a lot Zack!

i'm pretty quick now.
and i don't have much into my car.
it's got awesome wheels, good styling, a solid trans, and better brakes than stock.
there's lots of room for mods, and lots of power to gain.
for a few $$$ you're puttin down 200 whp and 250lb/ft.......
but i'm biased cause i like my 1.8t a lot.

Don't know too much about the 337 edition, but a buddy of mine has a 1.8T Jetta. That car is pretty quick for being a stock car. And you can hear the turbo spooling up pretty easily too :D. Thats an awesome sound, stock intake and exhaust, all you can hear is the turbo. mmm lol

I was going to get the red 2002 GTI 1.8T that ya'll might see goin round Rogers. Awesome cars, plenty of power. Their 1.8T's have an anti-lag system, so, instead of a BOV that just blows the pressure into the atmosphere, it fills a resevoir-like tank. So if you stomp back down on the throttle, it empties the tank into the intake, so ur instantly pressurized, then when the turbo spools back up, any excess is blown off into the atmosphere.
Jim Jard told me it was a done deal, with $4500 from my Bronco as down payment (on an $18k car), then at the last minute, literally I was in to sign the papers and drive off in it, they came back and said I ALSO needed $4500 cash. I was "Uhh, fuck no. If I had $4500 cash, I'd have bought the $2500 Porsche 944 Turbo down the road that needed a $25 lower ball joint. I'm not putting 50% down. Either we settle this on the terms we've agreed to for the past 2 months, or you can keep your damned car!"
They kept the car, for another 8 months, till it sold at $15k. I have yet to go back to that dealership.
The cars are good, but I HIGHLY recommend a different dealer.

i second that about jim jard in rogers. they have very little knowledge about vdubs. i went up there about a year ago to test drive the 20th ae when it first came out. the sales guy couldnt even tell me the difference in a regular gti and a 20th ae. as for the 337 i give it props. but find one used. never buy new...just my 02.

Just read up on the 337's. Kool cars, but I'd rather get a base 1.8T GTI and build it up, a lot cheaper. IMO $30k is too much for even the R-32's, especially when you could get a WRX that can outrun it for the same price. WRX was one of the aimed-for competitors of the R-32. I forgot who the other was. IMO, VW wants too much money for their small cars. Take out a few internal visual luxuries an drop the price a few k and I'd be more than glad to get a new VW.
