I am thinking about possible trading in the grand prix on a fully loaded brand new 2003 black 1.8T 20th anniversary 6-speed VW GTI 1.8 Turbo Golf. I actually prefer the 2003 GTI more than the 2004 because the 2003 20th anniv. has the 6 speed transmission and a few more extra goodies.
Here is just about exactly what my Grand Prix will look like when it is done:

Here are pictures of the 2003 VW GTI 1.8 Turbo 20th Anniversary Golf:

It would end up costing me a little more on insurance, and I could have a full bumper to bumper warranty and get much better gas mileage if I bought the GTI.
PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO VOTE AT THE TOP !

Both cars are nice, I'd rather have a standard though. VW will probably get better mileage.

I'm stuck because the GTP is you... but at the same token the Vdub is nice.. Although, I think the GTP is more of your style. Either way, they are both pretty nice and either would suffice as a great car. It's all up to the positive/negative attributes of both. :dunno:
...I'd think keep the GTP, but if you're looking for warranty, the vdub is the way to go. :respect:
 Either way we can always change your s/n.

I say keep the gtp cause you're the only GP'er I know around here. So I see you're lookin at the SD hood and wing. Nice choice.
Also, I agree the Grand Prix fits you. People said the same thing to me when I got mine. Those cars just fit certain people. I'd keep it.
it really comes down to what you want to do. I am never satisfied with a car, and I trade them often. it's just what you want to do. both are sweet cars, and are comparable speedwise.

Vdub. man, there is such an aftermarket for the GTis (1.8T has soooooooooo many parts, its crazy) a standard is way more fun to, the GTi would handle better, IMO looks better (sorry guys, the GTP has a granny look to it lol) and a guy like john getting out of a Golf would be funny and very cool. ladies love the Vdubs.

I will be test driving a 240 horsepower Silver 2004 VW R32 probably on Saturday morning in Rogers, I will let you guys know how that goes. .
I know it's a 3.2 V6 and it's also not a turbo, but I think it has a similar drivetrain as that 20th anniv. 6 speed 1.8T GTI

O damn, if you are choosing between the GTP and R32.... well I want to change my vote. R32 > GTP
R32's drivetrain is NOTHING like the GTI's. R32 is AWD 3.2L v6 (the vw vr6) it is a badass handling car that sounds AWESOME and is pretty quick. (low 14's high 13's in the 1/4 mile )

I say keep the GTP. We need to keep all the people around with the 3.8s that we can. Stick with the GTP. :2thumbsup:

what does the r32 run stock?
fooman03
Oct-18th-04, 3:01 pm
I looked it up and i found that the r32 runs a 14.2 stock and a 0-60 time of 5.9. I found this on modernracer.com

ok so the r32 is slower than the gtp then

I have seen stock R32's run 13.8-9 in the 1/4 and there is NO doubt that it handles 4533463406983x better than the GTP :)

I'll own up on an R32 on the highway, and i'm close to its c'ville times.
i'm 12.1 and Tim w/ the 20th is 11.9.
They'll go crazy fast w/ a $3000 turbo upgrade to the tune of 300whp easy and in that car it's really surprising. the stock clutch in the 6 speed is really great, the body kit looks great, the recaro's own! and it's gonna 3 wheel w/ a stiffer rear sway if you wanna auto cross, stock 18's w/ pilot sports and some kick ass brakes.
The R32 is bad ass but as far as bolt-ons go, exhuast intake but there are some really really pimpy kits out. ESPECIALLY HPA's TT kit. like whoa!
I agree that the R32 Golf is a great choice. It has great potential, I have seen videos of those cars built up and handling 600hp!

Yeah that video was b.a. i wonder what that car would run in the quarter with that 600hp setup.

my old black ranger would 3 wheel with the suspension mods i had on it (not much, doubled the leaf springs, leveled it, 4x4 sway bar and wide tires on stang GT rims)
i havent pushed the new truck :fear: but its got some autocross inspired suspension parts that were engineered by the previous owner, see below
