Aug-15th-04, 12:36 pm
definitely the 4:10's out of the stuff you posted. If you can't shift fast enough w/ the stock shifter, then you need more practice anyway.

What size gears are stock?3:53? I'd go to like a 3:73 or something, thats what I had in my camaro and hoooo shit it made a huge difference

Aug-15th-04, 7:28 pm
Underdrive pullies won't give you hardly anything. If what he wants is HP, throw a healthy shot of nitrous on that engine.
TripleZero
Aug-15th-04, 8:17 pm
Nitrous sucks. C'mon man they make so much shit for the stang its UNREAL. Keep it off the bottle, it's a big boy now

you have 3.73s i'm pretty sure, i'd get the gears if i were you (i voted)
your drivability will suck but its the biggest improvement out of them all i think

your stock gears are 2.73's the cobra's like mine were 3.08. With a 5 speed your not going to want to get 4.10's. 4.10's are for AODE's ONLY!!! You need to order 3.73's and the gear for it. I put richmond gears in the cobra and I loved them. First gear is really short but with 4.10's you seriously might as well launch in second unless your running a 28in wall tire to balance it out. Be sure you have someone put the gears in for you. The must fit an exact way or the will move begin to wine and blow out your rear end. Also with 4.10's your going your going to cruise at 4000 rpm going 70. What you should do is get 3.73's, then the pulleys, prochamber, Then buy the shifter and clutch adjuster together. After that I would get rid of the glass packs and get some real muffs. You can't go wrong with 40 series original flowmasters on a stang

I knew it didnt have 3:73's stock. Yay I got a ford question right.

The 03 cobras and mach 1's have 3.55's but thats as close as it gets.

Gears, then underdrive pulley kit, then H-Pipe setup. You'll help free up some of that parasydic power loss from pulley driven equipment.... The only downside to the UPK is that your wheel on the alternator most generally gets changed, and it doesn't spin as much causing a loss of charge.....

it's hard enough to hook up with the 3.73's I have. If you end up getting 4.10's have fun launching unless your doing a aode swap

isnt posi the same as traction lock?
5point_Slow
Aug-18th-04, 6:25 pm
traction lock has a switch that you hit and it's locked. where posi you romp on it and it locks in. There pre much the same thing.

BTW FMS gears come with some of the things needed to install it if the person putting the gears in for you doesn't provide them. Talk to bowens99gt and see where he got his done. It was like half the price of my install but you have to drive to joplin.
HintOfBlue
Aug-18th-04, 8:38 pm
are they realy that hard to put in? im scared of even touchen that rear end any ways.
Bowens99GT
Aug-18th-04, 9:44 pm
gears for sure.....everyone has their own opinion. Get Motive 3:90's. Best of both worlds. Then a speedo gear or speedcal. Next up I'd get the midpipe but not a prochamber. Get an X pipe for best HP gains and make sure its offroad. Then get a timing adj. Ditch the pullies, they wont net you much at all.
5point_Slow
Aug-18th-04, 9:53 pm
with anothony's n/a set up a x pipe is going cause a lose in torque. The prochamber pipes are really good everyone i have talked to with one give's it a  . And stock pulleys on a 5.0 suck ass. They UD's will give you atleast 10-12 to the ground believe it or not and i can pull up the dyno sheets from 5.0mandff.

wow you paid $70 more than me for my gears. !! LOL
3:90's will be good. From what Anthony told me I dont understand what your saying. If you get 3:73's you'll wish you went higher. Trust me. Get a shifter too. Pro 5.0 or Steeda Triax are both good.

dont listen to brandon he has a auto and doenst know what he's talking about cause he doesn't drive a 5 speed with 3.73's every day

the fight is on...i think its all a matter of trial and error....ant...find wut you like and stick with it ninja...you might like a different gear set up than other stang drivers...i say try a few and pick the best one for ur driving habits

gears arent exactly cheap or a walk in the park to install ^_^
3.90 would be LOWER geared than 3.73 B
i had 3.45 with an open diff in my ranger's 7.5", swapped in 3.55 with LSD and NO ABS!!
