boost dog, just wondering, how are you running w/o an alternator??

drewgray
Sep-7th-05, 3:44 pm
Pretty simple, you use a battery. When the car is only a 1/4 mile car, an alt isn't needed. Just recharge between runs.

boostdog
Sep-7th-05, 5:07 pm
well drew beat me to the answer...i am going to see how it runs without it and if i have to much trouble i will just put it back on. man i cannot wait until it is ready!

SmokeyTheBear
Sep-7th-05, 5:25 pm
ahhh i see. but you won't be running any current so youll have to recharge everytime wouldn't ya??

boostdog
Sep-7th-05, 5:32 pm
pretty much..no biggie i have an ac to dc converter already installed in my jeep and a charger. so i am ready as far as that goes. i plan to add a volt meter as well in the car just to monitor everything. maybe pickup another battery too.

drewgray
Sep-7th-05, 5:57 pm
Just make sure you have a good battery and you should be fine. Also make sure its fully charged. Also, since you are doing this a volt meter is a MUST if the voltage gets too low you can hurt your ecu, and we don't want that.

Why would I want to change, when I got a good thing going with my H23. Of the cars that I have raced that have an H22, with the same mods as me, I can bet, so why change.

Well i got some new times at centerville saturday. I couldn't get a good 60 ft all night. The fastest 60 ft i got before the guy hit the 60 ft light was 2.12, which is horrible for dr's. I'm pretty sure alot of this has to do with my blown struts, cause i used to cut 2.1s ever time with street tires. My car is not tuned, and only has bolt ons.

Not too bad for not being able to launch, if i launched i spun all through 1st and was getting a 13.2 time, so if i get an LSD or just some stickier tires and will actually beable to launch, i'll be doin better. and if i put the car on a diet too, it's a big car for a FWD.

SmokeyTheBear
Feb-27th-06, 10:11 pm
new suspension (bushings too) should help the lack of traction a lot. plus, it leans back, so keeping the weight on the front wheels a good idea.

StealthyJoe
Feb-28th-06, 9:20 am
yeah i've got a little suspension done, i have coilovers all the way around, and its droped 3" in the front and 2" in the rear, so it has some rake to help, but my rear end still squats pretty hard on take off or even between hard shifts.

For the record, R/T has ZERO to do with your overall 1/4 time and/or MPH.

My times are really old. I haven't been to the track in about two years. Should be faster now. The big kicker is low profile street tires. The 60ft says it all there.
