I went to just see what i could run since it was doing decent, but they were only doing competition runs so i said what the heck and entered since im dropping my car off to get painted and not gonna have it for a while. I entered the 13.5 bracket and they gave us a couple trial runs but no fun drags and straight to eliminations. 5.0 Ray was in it, the guy that almost always wins but there was a few other drag cars but the rest was a breeze. A camaro ss and a gtp that couldnt run 13.5 if their life depended on it, so the first run i figured i would see what it would do then tone it down and get serious. As soon as i hit 2nd i nailed the nos and instantly redlined, which scared the hell out of me cause sparkcut and nos dont mix, so i immediately let off and hit 3rd and sprayed, spun forever but was picking up speed pretty hard so i stayed in it and 4th i hit hi boost (around 22lbs) and sprayed and only spun for a second or so and stil managed a 12.8 at 114. Pretty funny seeing some of the drag cars hitting mid elevens with that trap speed. Well on with the serious buisness. I ran my second practice run and hit a 13.51, perfect. Eliminations, was a real mind game. First guy left me sitting (he had slicks) and i passed him like he was sitting still when i hit 3rd and sprayed and i cram on the brakes and he catches up and i spray again and cram on the brakes. He ran a 13.76 and i ran a 13.73, so close. I take that back, that was the second race, first guy left and i got a free run. 3rd race was against 5.0 Ray so i was happy as i was wanting to leave long before this and cruise. He broke out on his previous race but the other guy broke out worse so he won. His run before that was a 13.53. Well i figured it would come down to the tree so i pushed it a little deeper, staging. My reaction was .6123 (.500 pro tree) and his was .6145. He had drags and left me sitting as i knew he would, i burned out pretty bad so i juiced it with low boost for about 2 seconds and i felt like i was about right on track but i knew i wasnt gonna catch him so again i hit it for a second and was really gaining but wasnt gonna catch him, but i swore that we had to be breaking out so i didnt try, he lets off the gas and i let off and he ran a 13.37 at 99 and i ran a 13.44 at 107. So im pretty happy, wasnt planning on anything but to haul balls and see what it would do, but never raced a bracket before and learned alot of litlle tricks like some will cram on the brakes and let you break out or act like they cant catch you and you slow down so you dont break out and they hit it and beat you by a inch. Of course the money doesnt hurt none either.
