Well, a few months ago my Dad told me he was selling his Porsche... it's a 1995 911 (993 series) Carrera Cabriolet that currently has just over 66,000 miles. It is also the last iteration of the air cooled Porsches. Dad has owned it since January of 1998, with the previous owner to him being Brett Saberhagen, a major league baseball pitcher. I feel like I grew up with this car... I was 17 when Dad purchased it... I helped him bleed the brakes, do oil changes, wash and clean the car, attended Porsche Club events, even learned to drive stick with this car! It was father/son bonding time... times I'll remember for the rest of my life... automotive skills I still use to fix my own cars, I learned by helping him in the garage.
So fast forward to about a month ago... my Dad and I came to an agreement on a deal that would make the Porsche mine. My Dad and Step-Mom paid for my flight from Tulsa, OK to Michigan, and I drove back on a Sunday... a roughly 12 hour drive that felt like it went by in a blink of an eye.
I was able to give the car a decent cleaning, saving the major stuff I want to do for later... still working on a game plan. It also gave me an opportunity to snap some pictures.
It's a rare color combination, and is a factory color, Amaranth Violet with Marble Grey. #0587 Built 3/1994 Neatest thing to me about the color is how it changes hue in different light conditions... a lot like my previous Sonic Blue SVT did. I still miss that car.
