T4? or hybrid???

which is bigger? This is a single turbo application and I know that 1 t3 isn't enough.
Mr. Merk
Jul-27th-04, 1:42 am
a t3/t4 hybrid is better than a T4 cuz it will spool faster

I bet the T4 will pump out more HP. If you arnt worried about spool time and want power go with a big turbo. If you like a more streetable car go with a smaller one
Mr. Merk

a T3/t4 will make just as much power as a t4, but will spool as fast as a t3
5point_Slow
Jul-27th-04, 2:47 am
will the t3/t4 be enough though? I know for sure the t4 will get it done but what kind of lag am i talking about here? I don't really want to do a TT set up either reason for not grabbing two t3's.
Mr. Merk
Jul-27th-04, 9:19 am
ok people arent understanding this, with a t3/t4 you make JUST as much power as you do with a normal T4, it just spools faster, so it WILL get it done, its the exact same output, it just spools FASTER=LESS LAG
btw: you'd be fine with a T3, a t4 or t3/t4 makes about 25psi+
a t3 makes about 21psi.........dont think you'll be running that much psi

from what ive been reading they say a single t3 wont work because its designed to work on a engien less than half the size of mine so it doesn't flow good enough. And these are some pretty experenced engine builders so I'm looking for a t4 or maybe somethng a little bit bigger.

well im going to get a smog pump delete so thats going to free up quite a bit of room and I'm going to see if a EGR delete is a good idea or not(temp wise) then get this damn ticket out of the way so i can start playign with my car! I want to run atleast 3in tubing under the hood. I'm not sure what im going to do for my exhaust though. This is what i was thinking about but I'm kind of iffy about it and I dont really like tail pipes out the back with my bumper.
Mr. Merk
Jul-27th-04, 3:15 pm
you have EGR? wow....they stopped doing that in rangers after 87.....anyway
i dont know what size TB you are going to run, but its best to not have the charge pipes larger than the diameter of the TB, just FYI
(65mm TB = 2.5" charge pipes, 70mmTB = 3")
better have a properly ported upper/lower intakes as well, large fuel pump, injectors, FPR, 75mm MAF, might need a different MAP sensor
a lot of things to keep in mind.......i was going to T3 my 2.9......i finally figured EVERYTHING that had to be done, and then i decided not to.........for now

don't you need an FMU, or is the MAF going to adjust the fuel for you?
5point_Slow
Jul-27th-04, 6:10 pm
from what i understand the MAF is calibrated to adjust the fuel

you can get a Holley FPR for like $65 and a BBK for under $100 i think
dont get a bigger MAF than the size of your TB, thats like putting a 3" muffler on a 2.25" exhaust
my merk came stock with 35lb injectors. my truck has 14lbers :(

Even with an intercooler, I would consider throwing in a bigger radiator as well. You are going to create much more heat. Just a safety issue.
Your BOV is going to be recirculated, so none are going to be tremedesly loud.
I would definately look into getting some kind of tuning device. I am not sure what's available for the SN95 bodystyle, but check on the TwEeCer. I would not trust the PCM/ECU to deliver enough fuel.
If I was in your shoes, I would also spend the money and get a Wideband O2. With the power you will be making you want to ensure running pig rich in order to prevent rods from snapping and pistons from melting.
You are definately gonna need spark plugs one or two ranges colder at a little smaller gap.
FPR - make sure you get an FPR that rises with boost. Also, please stay away from the cheaper FPR's that only allows you to adjust fuel pressure to be higher but not lower it. (I think the BBK and Aeromotive units are that way). You can not adjust your fuel pressure to be lower than it is when you install it.
I think that's about it ...

Lots of the guys running TT's are using the TwEeCer but they dont really tell much about it except they keep having trouble with it. It is made for the SN 95's though. As for the fuel system I'm really like the Aeromotive kits that they have. It would save me a bunch of pain rather than peicing everything together. After goping through summit the only radiator i could find was race only. I know there out there but all the ones listed were for 87-93.

also a vented hood would do wonders for your heat issues
