I'm trying to get to Mid-Ohio for the Honda-Challenge National Championship (http://www.racenasa.com) road racing event the week of August 15th-22nd. My 1989 beater truck that I've been using to tow to Hallett (Tulsa) and beyond the last year and a half is pretty much shot. It has a quarter-million miles on it, the brakes are shot, the shocks are shot, it has no AC, and is generally speaking, a pile of steamy crap. I only use it to tow short distances and it sucks at that, I do *not* trust it for a 1600+ mile trip.

So- I need to rent a full-size truck to tow my Civic Si (http://todd.professorfrink.com/albums/hallettjune27/P1010001.sized.jpg) with, that is in good/reliable condition, and can tow well (and has running AC, lol). I've checked rental car places, and even specialized truck-rental places and they either do not allow towing, or want an arm and a leg for a week and 2000 miles of mileage. I don't know where else to look. Someone suggested checking around used car dealerships; that I might find a salesman needing a buck and willing to "rent" a vehicle for a week, but that seems doubtful to me.

Anyway, I'm running out of ideas and time (1 month), so I thought I'd ask here. If anyone knows of someone personal, at a dealership, or has access to trucks that might want to make me a deal on a full-size truck for a week, please let me know.

thanks
Ben

my dad is selling his 2000 Short Bed Chevy Truck for i think $7,000 (don't quote me on this, i forget what he is asking) this truck is in great shape for the price. it has around 90k miles on it however recently had a new tranny put in it professionally. if you wanted a good all around tow/daily driver truck, this would be it. it has the 5.3 vortec v8 (which will tow a honda+trailer) and all your tools. if your interested, post or PM me and i can arrange a time and place for you to see the vechile.
