Need to squeeze HP!

Hey (EVERYONE),
as I said in another post, my punkass F23 only pushes 154hp stock and I'm starting to wonder if I actually pulled 35-40hp out of the bolt-ons like I originally estimated...
I have a few ideas for methods of digging deep for hp (track only), but my main concern is getting the comp. reprogrammed.
Can anyone help me??? PLEEEEEEASE???

I can't think of the other thing I was going to ask about, but when I do, rest assured, you'll know. :thumbup:

What kind of bolt ons? Chances are, with basic mods and stock tuning, you haven't gained more than 15 hp.

Hondatas are pretty good for the money, the eManage is pretty cheap too, they're only like $300. Personally I'd like to step up to an AEM EMS or a LINK, but they're pricey.

I don't know much about F series engines, but advancing the timing on Honda engines seems to help a lot. Run a higher octane with some advanced timing, and you'll notice a difference. Also, something not too expensive is a B&M fuel pressure regulator, just to put some more fuel in there. After that, and a decent cam, you should either have your computer rechipped or get a VAFC or some fuel map controller.

I've got a K&N Air filter with 3" pip (not CAI)
Kamikaze 421 perf. header
uuuuuuum...'superhighflow' cat (pretty much full free-air exhaust)
NGK Iridium IX plugs
Accel 8mm plug wires ..
That's it, as far as engine goes.

I'd say you added around 17-20... Thats without the plugs & wires.

I'd say next small deal is an underdrive pulley. If you get an underdrive pulley, add around 6-8 depending on the weight.

EGR blockoff plate = Ghetto riggin' it (on the track)
H22a throttle body = Would LOVE it (go great with an entire TC'd H22, wouldn't it?)

Well, VAFC and Cam Gear are very important when it comes to dyno tuning. Only retard your timing if you're running nitrous. The MSD Cap and Coil is cheap, good investment.

Ok, my plans, right now, are :

Vtec controller : I found a vtec controller (only...not air/fuel) for about 100.00...the cheapest VAFC I've found is 245.00 and I don't think programming the a/f ratio will give me enough edge to be worth the 145.00. Especially if I can use that 145.00 on MSD Ignition.

I will be looking for, atleast, an H22a intake manifold and 70mm throttle body, and will have it P/P before installation UNLESS I can find one like Edelbrock that is bored about .25 and use IT with the throttle body.

That's my plan as of yet...before Mokan's first import night 2004, I'll have the vtec controller at minimum. Other than that, there's no tellin'.

The VAFC's tuneability is worth the $245. I've found them used for $200 all day. What year is your car? If its not an OBD1 car, I'd recommend buying the adapter harness and putting in a P5P ecu w/ a mugen spec program on it. Also, get an H22 intake manifold and clean it up a little, if you port it right, it will flow like the skunk2 for your car. Also, a 70mm throttle body will kill you if you aren't boosting. 65 is about average, 68 is the biggest I would go. As most anyone would tell you, have Greg Jones in Fayetteville do all of your head work. He's excellent!!!!

You definatly need to get the VAFC. Adjusting the A/F ratio can give you more power then you think.

When I run at Mokan, I plan to extend my intake out through the headlight (of course, taking off the headlight) to ram air it and will most likely run the 101 octane they have up there.

I'll tell you this, Maliwho...if you can find me one for 200.00, I'll seriously consider it...(of course, I won't be able to scoop it up until after the holidays).

Dude, I was so close to coming up there today..(in the Montero, though...I'd like to not have to get the CL out in this crap, even though the roads were OK...the paint may not be special, but I'd like it to last).
