Newly installed 5x7 DD's on my truck

Well I was at the soundoff on Saturday and realized that PawnUSA now sells DD's, since I already got the 6.5's in the front i thought this would have been the best time to buy the ones for the back. They had the 5x7's for sale and couldnt resist, installed them today, and after some troubleshooting (thank steven) got it all going and it sounds great, no distortion and I can crank it up w/o worrying bout the sucky stockers anymore. i hate to tell you juan but that 6.5 mid driver is missing the VC dust cover.

Those DD's don't have a dust cover. They have either a pole-mounted tweeter or a phase plug. I believe Juan runs the phase plug because he mounted the tweeter seperately, up higher.

For the n00bs, a phase plug redirects the higher pitches away the cone to assist in eliminating nodes and to help the dispersion pattern for a less 'beamy' effect. All the while, extending the frequency range [up] by eliminating the cancellation effects near the center of the cone.

Lee nailed it, I just checked and I though I put the plug on there again but I didn't it must have sounded better without, but that was before I installed the pioneer so I guess I'll try them back on tonight and see as I'm still fine tuning the levels on the hu
