blah i am in a getting to know car phase. i want to learn more about the Golf/Jettas. if anyone has some VW info links, i would really like to get them. also i need a want a new vechile and think an older VW Golf would be a great investment (i like the looks of them) and would like to know what they run price wise (5 speed, turbo (if they did them in the early to mid 90s, i know NOTHING on VWs at all)

they didnt do the 1.8 turbo until 2000. before 2000 they used the 2.0 8valve 4 banger and the 2.8 vr6 narrow angle v6. for all the info you could ever imagine go to vwvortex.com btw..check out the golf with audi tt wheels

VWVortex.com! w00t! If I can ever sell my Isuzu and my Honda I'm going to get a 97 Jetta. I can't wait!!!

Hey man, its better to go through a "learning about cars" phase than to go through the "buy a car, learn all about it, sell it, and have nothing more than a little more knowledge" phase like I get...

mk 4's ....2.0 can be found for as low as 6000 or 7000. VR6 just under 10000..for 1.8t you will pay a little more. you could pick up a nice mk3 vr6 93 thur 99 for about 6 or 7 grand. you wont find any around this area though. lets not forget about my personal fav the mk 1 gti rabbit! the car that started the hot hatch trend back in the 70s and 80s

i wish i had that kind of cash for a newer car but i would a) have to take a loan out (at 17 w/ a wreck my insurance would sky rocket 130 a month for liablity alone) and B ) if i did take out a loan, the most i could take out would be about 3 to 3.5k at the max. i think my VW phase will have to wait a while. thanks for the info so that way if i ever meet you guys, i can keep up with what your talking about lol. back to looking for 1st gen PGTs.

Hey Pseudo, that Jetta I've been looking at is still for sale. I won't be able to get it because of my farkin Honda... Its a 97 2.0 NA, white, 5spd, Alpine system with 2 12"s, 17" Enkei rims, body is in perfect condition, good paint. Needs a clutch. $5500. I have their number if you're interested.
