Well, Rich and I got a little ambitious in the past two weeks and decided to put together a really nice XR out of a few parts cars we had for his wife. We're building a basically stock, but very nice XR here...nothin crazy, but we're pretty excited to get another one back on the road. I'll let the pics do the talking right now, and I'll update periodically! Cheers!

Our subject- a dejected late 85 XR (W/TITLE!!!) that was last registered in 96 and last moved about 8 years ago.

Sweet! I had a friend in High School with an XR, and my mom's cousin had one as well. I never thought I'd see people restoring them, but there are at least two or three on FocalJet.com that have either completely restored or are in the process of restoring an XR.

I always thought they were such a modern looking car... back in the day!

Ford Cosworth Replica anyone?

Yeah, I bet... I remember watching some races with the Ford Sierra Cosworths... (I can't remember which racing series, though I bet it's on YouTube) but it was like the Ford Cosworths couldn't hardly be beat.

I remember watching those and I also watched the skyline & Conquest/Starion races. I still really want a conquest or an 89 Escort GT :(

Did they ever do any rally stuff with the late 70's Turbo Mitsu Lancers? Couldnt imagine they would put out much power but they had to be popular back then.

It looks like a good time rippin into the beast. Wish I could be there in the engine bay holding a drill :P
