well i'm going to bite the bullet here pretty soon and buy a connecting rod kit. everyone says its the best insurance policy for my car and i know it will help me sleep better at night. but i don't have the knowledge/skills or tools to install them. i was hoping someone on the boards could recommend a good shop or person to help me get it done. thanks.

it's a 1.8t motor. practically new motor, only 14,000 miles. the kit has everything you need to do the job.

will you have the engine already out?

no, you don't have to take the engine out to do it. remove head and drop the oil pan is what most people do.

that sounds iffy. and my garage has a car sitting in it without a motor already. if you wanted to bring me the engine then i can do it. but it will be awhile before i can get my car together.

think you could get to it this summer? i'd really like to have it done before school starts so i have some transport. from what i've read its a 10 hour job if you work really hard on it. but it will probably end up being more like 14 or so at a medium pace.
