New receiver suggestions

Well, I got a decent job for the summer and want to see about maybe buying a new home theater receiver. I was just wondering if Lee, or anyone else who is into home audio had any suggestions.

Really all I care about is HDMI ports, quality(obviously), and fairly easy use. Would like to stay at $600 or under. And i am dead set against a surround sound system.

i just want a 5.1 or 7.1 receiver. I already have 2 speakers to use and will be rather coming to you for the sub or buying one this summer.

Why pay for 5.1 or 7.1 if you're against surround sound?

i'm not against surround I just dont wanna buy a complete system... I WANT surround sound but I don't wanna buy a full system. I'd rather piece together my own.
