I, as some of you may know, own a 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX as well as a 2001 Ford Lightning.
I've only had the Lightning for a month, so it has not needed any type of service. I've owned a 1988 Mustang GT which I did all of my own work on and I've owned the Eclipse GSX for 3 years now which has NEVER EVER seen a shop since I first purchased it. I've done things such as; Oil Changes, Radiator Flush, Head Replacement, Head Gasket Replacement, Timing Belt Changes, Exhaust install, UICP Install, injector swap, MAF conversion, Brakes, etc, etc ...
Most of course with help, but still ...
I am just curious to see how many peeps here actually do their own work?

if I dont have to worry about messing something up hardcore and I have the tools I'm going to do it. Other wise i have to take it to a shop becuase I Don't have near enough tools to do most work.

I do all my own work. Im going to run into trouble though if the turbos go. I dont know if i will be able to rebuild them myself. Might have to ship them off to be rebuilt, but I will take them off myself

I do most of my bolt ons and simple shit but like my subframe connecters and gears had to be installed by pro b/c for one I dont have a welder and gears are a bit complicated to put in. I'd like to learn to do little engine builds and stuff like that.
Benji do you have a lift to do all your work on?

I do all my own work- even the hardcore stuff, with help from my friends I did my own machine work. I can do anything to my car, I can swap out my turbo in an hour, I know my car like nothing else: all from doing my own shturff

gears arent all that hard, putting a diff with gears already bolted on is a lot easier tho ^_^

I most generally always do the work on my own car, but with my hatchback, I was sponsored by Humble Performance, so I put it in their hands.

Ahem, and WHO should you be giving mad props to?! ;)
Like Benji, I do what I can on our cars. The only things I haven't yet tackled are major rebuilds such as the block, head, and tranny. I hope to rebuild the '90 Talon's block later this year, or at least pull/install it and let FFWD do the work on the block. "Sometimes" it's better to let a professional shop do the rebuild, cause then you can get some kind of warranty.
My first performance car was an '89 Mustang LX 5.0 and I mainly did simple stuff, but a friend helped with a new clutch, exhaust, and Trick Flow heads. Then I had a '95 Talon TSi AWD and let Mitsu install an aftermarket clutch, $900 later (labor only) I haven't taken any of my cars back to a shop or dealer.
I'd like to get a '93 RX7 sometime and learn about a rotary. B)
