Hey All,
This Holiday season is going to be a great one-- for most of us. We will probably gather around the Christmas tree with our family, snuggle by the fireplace with our significant other, but most of all be with the ones we love.
But for many NW AR'er's, they won't have quite the joy. Distressed & distraught because alot of people cannot afford to feed their little ones, let alone themselves.
So NWA Imports is partaking in the "Tim & Jeff in the Morning's Canned Food Camp-Out" via Power 105.7.
We all urge you to donate canned-goods & non-perishable food items to this worthy cause. This ends tomorrow, Saturday November 22nd @ 5pm.
If you'd like to donate food, please go to the following location;
The Mayflower trailer in the Springdale Wal-Mart Supercenter Parking Lot.
Here is the information from the Tim & Jeff Website.
Tim & Jeff in the Morning's Canned Food Camp-Out
Tim and Jeff need your help. Starting Thursday November 20th, T & J will be camping out on top of a Mayflower trailer in the Springdale Wal-Mart Supercenter Parking Lot. They need your donations of non-perishable food items which will go to the Ozark Food Bank. The OFB helps stock food pantries all across Northwest Arkansas for area needy. Some people don't have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, make a donation to the Tim & Jeff in the Morning Canned Food Camp-out and we can change that!
If you have any more questions, call 621-1057 with a query about "Tim & Jeff's Canned-Food Camp Out"
Thanks for all of your help, and in the name of others, DONATE!
This is a great cause.
-NWAi
Congrats to all who have donated and to all who havent JUST DO IT :P .
I have gotten a lot of donations for the Ozark Food Bank already, we will post all the info and the pics tomarrow after we finalize all of it.
But yea, thanks to all who have donated, even a can helps out the hungry in these times of need.
Just think of the community and go donate a can of Corn, if you donate anything, let us know Via Email or PM, and we will make sure to include your name under the list of donaters.
Anyone have free time tomorrow???? I and some friends at Sonic on 45th St in Rogers by IHOP, we will be collecting the remaining goods received and taking them to Power in Springdale at Sams. If you all wanna meet around up there in Springdale , that'd be cool, i dunno. I will prolly be up there from around 3 - 5pm They will be gone at 5.
Anyway, thanks. Laters
:victory:
I guess I never kept up with this thread afterwards.
We finally collected a total of $800 I think and about a truck load of canned goods.
The food drive is comming up in a couple months, anyone feel like volunteering or donating this year?
We got an entire semi truck and part of another filled last year and they wanna beat that this year.
I can't find the photos on their website, and we never got that section up on the site due to the holidays last year.

good way to get involved as a community and get our name out as something positive in the area
We shout ask all the peeps who come to the meet ups if they can bring some can goods next time they come out...
Would that sound too gay? If someone asked me and I knew the cause, I don't think I would have any problem bringing some can goods up with me.
I walked my neighborhood last year and got 4 walmart sacks full of stuff. Those little soups in a can things with the plastic lid that is suppose to be microwavable... well lots of peeps gave em to me but after looking at the expiration date, I knew why. Make sure to check your dates on your foods in your house, wouldnt want peeps to get sick now that winter is aproaching.
I suppose they will be doing this again this year in november again, I havent heard anything of it yet, but I will call em up and get some info for this year if you guys really wanna participate.
We took a bunch of sonic members up last year and we hung out there for a while during their live remote... I also printed up fliers and whatnot and took them around to fast food places, businesses and other places to help get the word out.
Don't know how energetic I will be this year, but It doesnt hurt anything to volunteer some extra veggies you have in the cabinets :D

I am going to post on the message board they have and see if they are doing this again for 2004.
Also, our club meeting is October 30th for this month. I will bring this up and see if I can get some more people to help out with time or donations.
I couldn't find my user name on their Proboards, I might not have registered before :surp:
I also had to include my $.02 in there with yours.

Yes, we're totally doing it again!
November 10-12. It's a Wed-Fri.
Same place, Wal-Mart / Sams in Springdale
Mayflower Truck - Filling it for the Ozark Food Bank
Were just now getting the word out. We NEED to make it bigger than last year. It should be a ton of fun. We've got more sponsors now, which hopefully means free stuff for donators and volunteers.
If you need any info, just send an email to
timandjeff@power1057.com
Brandon! Whatever you can do to spread the word would be AWESOME!
Tim & I are going to be hitting the streets soon to get the word out too...

hey i just thought of something. What if we collect all the cans at someones house or something, then when it comes to the date, we gather all of the imports and take it to them as a big group, i think that would be good publicity and make people realize that we do more than just cause trouble, thats just an idea i just thought of, let me know what you guys think
I'm in, always wanted, and i think the us taking them as a group would be a great idea, chance for people together and help out, but yeah i am definately down for this.

Sounds like an awesome idea to me! I want to be able to hang out with some of the people on here!!!
I dont know why they dont carry this into the weekend like last year...
I think they did it november 20th thru the 23rd which was thursday thru Sunday. It would give more people a chance to get up there being the weekend and all.
Perhaps they will keep it going til saturday or sunday this year, depending on their donations.
I doubt they will make it a 5 day event though since poor Tim and Jeff were almost dead after the end of that event last year.
I really like the idea of everyone doing it as a team effort. They told me that a few import peeps donated stuffs last year, but there weren't too many.
Peeps who want to volunteer; last year they had several people who were accepting donations when people pulled up, people who sorted the food into categories and peeps who loaded the truck via pallets. There were a couple other peeps hanging out but they were generally the Tim and Jeff fan club chicks :P
Please try and spread the word at the meet ups, it isnt very hard to forget about the unfortunate people who have no place to go or nothing to eat during the cold holidays, but it does make you feel good as a person knowing you helped out those strangers in NWA.

So when and where do we all want to meet to take them up there as a group? When and where is best for you guys?
Good Question, we all need to find a place and a time that would be best for everyone, since this takes place during the week.
I usually work on fridays from 5-10pm but I could get off for a while to participate if Friday was the day.
Also, if anyone lets friends at school know and they want to meet up too, we should all come up with a good location quickly so you guys can tell your buds at school the location as well.
Last year I printed around 100 or 150 flyers and distributed them amongst businesses, I don't have the time this year, so would anyone like to help flyer things, cars businesses? If not, it was just an idea.
I believe Office Depot charged me $.05 or $.06 per copy which doesnt add up to too much. This could either be an independant thing where we could provide a PDF or Text file to download and print off, or we could all get together and just take off in different directions across town for a couple hours with a big stack of them (at our cost).
Its hard to get the word out and even though I spent only a few hardcore days last year, I dont feel like I got everyones attention. If you wanna help get the word out, I would suggest flyers as the way to do it.
Let me know your opinions.

As far as the time goes, if we have to go during the week, i would say if we could go arround 12:00 since everyone that works is off for lunch, or somewhere arround that time frame, i work from 8-5 mon-fri, but no matter what time we decide to go, I will be able to get out of the office any time, let me know on what we decide on. Also, i might get Aladdin REALTORS to donate money to help buy canned food and other things, i wont garantee it but i will try my best to get some from the company or agents :2thumbsup:

Oct-21st-04, 5:43 pm
BDP, 12 is not a good time for many though because a lot of people are still in school. So if it is during the week, why not do it around 5 or a little after?
I think we should find a spot to meet whether it be behind a building (like the mall) or a closed building parking lot, or even just some church or something...
We should most likely make the time be a 5:30-6:30 type deal since most school peeps and work peeps could make it. Also traffic will be an issue if it is on a friday, If we all cruise to Sprindale on 71 as well.
Just work it all out amongst yourselves, my suggestion would be a Friday meet at 5:30 or 6: and leave shortly thereafter like 6:30 (like our cruises). We could all meet at a McDonalds or something like either Rogers beside Radioshack in the back parking lot, or the one in lowel beside the bypass.
There is an old mall type place (dont remember the name) Beside Autozone in rogers, its at the corner of the stop light 8th st and Walnut, it has a large parking lot and there would most likely be enough room at that time to find a place to park.

Don Juan
Oct-26th-04, 7:04 pm
If we do pass out flyers, i say pass it out flyers to business giving them the 411 on everything, giving them a "deadline" for us to pick it up or if they want to take it its cool too. As far as when we take it, im down for whatever time and whatever day. Lets try to get this as organized as possible, get a good rep for :nwai: and :nwams: going....
Yeah, count me in. I'm always up for helping the community. Just have someone have some flyers for me to pick up and i'll do that. And then when it comes closer to game time, someone shoot me a PM or an e-mail giving the time and place...

If someone can get me some flyers, I'll put them up at school. And I will put like boxes in some classrooms and ask all the people in my classes to bring in stuff if they can. Just someone let me know about getting flyers and when I need to have everything ready to take up there by.
If I can get some flyers i'll hang up here at the campus.
Got a flyer done yestarday and finished this morning...
What ya think?

Do NOT Print That photo, I just put two things together to show what it looks like, I actually have all the photos organized in one program and the text in another so I got to print one file, then put the paper back in and print another. (lot easier)

The Ozark Food Bank helps stock food pantries all across Northwest Arkansas for area needy. Some people don't have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, make a donation to the Tim & Jeff in the Morning Canned Food Camp-out and we can change that!
“Last year you helped Tim & Jeff in the Morning fill one and a half Mayflower trucks with food for the needy of NWA....And IT'S BACK!
November 10th-12th look for Tim & Jeff camping out in front of Wal-Mart/Sam's Club in Springdale collecting donations for the Ozark Food Bank. Last year was huge, and this year needs to be, well... more HUGE!
Get your school, office, and family together and start collecting non-perishable food items to drop off during the camp-out.
Give the needy of NWA something to be thankful for this Thanks giving!” –Tim & Jeff
Northwest Arkansas Imports is proud to help spread the word for such a worthy cause, you can help out as well, just find some non-perishable food items and donate them. Groups from our site will be meeting up in Rogers at McDonalds at the corner of Walnut & 9th on Friday November 12th from 4- 6:30 pm to gather our donations and cruise to Springdale as a group. If you would like to be involved in our gathering, check out our website for more info www.NWAImports.com

hook me up with some, ill give them to the agents at work
I will be working on the probe tonight and possibly tomorrow but if not tomorrow then I will go get about 100 or so made up. I can get more if needed later on in the weekend.
Possibly 150? How many do you guys want for this weekend?
Is that how you guys want the flyer? Anything you want changed?
yea, the dang car.... that was the wrong part.... once more tomorrow
Anywho, I was thinking that I have no clue how many peeps are gonna meet at Micky Dees (maybe just us ) but what if we moved it to another parking lot like Oriellys (next to dollar general) or something. Just a thought, prolly better where we are just concerned with left turn out of the parking lot at 6:30pm.
Also, I dont know yet if 7pm-ish will be too late or not, I never asked them how late they would be there this year. I doubt they would leave any earlier especially if they knew we were bringing donations, but I am awaiting their approval on the flyer and the data.
Give me an idea of how many flyers you guys might want. (be reasonable - ive done this before :D)

still waiting on Tim and Jeff to get back with me.
Friday november 12th I am hoping.
The only way I could send you a flyer is if you have Microsoft Office (Excel) and a good Photo Editor program (Photo Suite, Paint shop Pro, Adobe...)
You have to print off the Image file first, put the paper back in the printer then print off the text file.
